Street Hawk on DVD would definately be another dream come true. I´ve only seen it once on TV and loved it (especially the theme tune, by Tangerine Dream, rocks), but it never got broadcasted again (at least in Germany), which is a bloody shame. I don´t know what company owns the rights for it...
Absolutely breathtaking news this morning. I didn´t really believe my eyes when i saw it, and it also seems that Universal has fixed everything i mentioned in my last post, which is kinda funny. Universal, thank you very much.
I really love the artwork for both sets, captures the time they were shown pretty well and they are also very "fresh" looking. Very good work Paramount! Hopefully picture quality is on par and i´m in for a ride back into my past. I will definately buy them all.
Finally two great shows of my teens on DVD. There are so many memories connected with it and i must say i enjoyed both very much back then. Years later this will certainly be a fun moment, having the opportunity to watch it all again, hopefully as non-cut as possible with decent PQ and sound...
I, as a die-hard fan of the classic transformers since my early ages, could not be more happy that finally a release of The Movie gets prepared, which seems to be worth of it´s name, and then some. I can´t believe the good news right now, it´s simply too good to be true. This is maybe one...
That´s exactly the same thing i was thinking while i´ve read that article. Considering how Universal executed Airwolf S1, i´m surprised this actually sold this good. The packaging alone is a disgrace, no extra features whatsoever, DS/DL-discs, the relatively high price... The only thing...
Good review Scott. The picture looks suspiciously close to the new Ben-Hur release, more film-like, slightly warmer colors (more yellow on the shot with the captain) but it´s also A LOT sharper than the old release, just blows the old disc out of the water, picture wise. I´m sold.
My copy of Legend UE shows excessive signs of glue (seems to be the adhesive used for bonding the layers) on the 2nd disc, while the first disc looks to be perfectly fine. I still can access the main menu without problems, but i´m not a 100% sure if the whole disc still plays correctly. Doesn´t...
Amazon has adjusted the prices to their old highs again. Now that really was a short lived discount. I hope it returns sometime. Still deciding if i should get West Wing, never seen it, yet.
Maybe it´s just me, but the MSRP on that set is WAY too high. $49.98 for 10 episodes with "some" extras still tba ? Only $10 less than the extremely extensive and complete Lost - Season 1 box ? That´s two thumbs down for Universal.
Not exactly the layers, but the layers themselves are glued to the silicon itself with a special adhesive. A DVD-18 (needs special replication lines, not all lines provide this) is nothing else than 2x DVD-9 glued together (another layer of adhesive), however they are also a lot thinner than 2x...
Aside from the fact that Universal doesn´t really seem to care about collectors, an example is their horrible Airwolf S1 box were they misprinted the backcover with the crew from S4, i haven´t got problems with their DVD-18 discs, yet. I hope the current situation with a lot of defective...
Gary, before i get into details for this particular title, i just wanted to mention that DVDBeaver is my first source for comparisons, because you always set very high standards and i also do A LOT of my dvd purchases cause of your throughout and honest methods of comparing, which no other...
@Gary Tooze: What I really miss in your comparison review is that you didn´t mention the very apparant softness (the older DVD is a lot sharper) of the new DVD, which leads to missing details, compared to the old DVD. Also the new transfer has a certain "yellowness" i really don´t like. You...
