My files were dated 3rd November 2003 (6:34pm) (PAL version). It would be unlikely the tone was changed for an August dated NTSC DVE and then not changed for the later release of the PAL DVE.

The DVE extended frequencey subwoofer tone makes the problem worse, as can be seen by people getting up to 13db difference between Avia/VE and DVE. The problem is, using DVE, some people cannot even hear their subwoofer, while if they use Avia they can hear the subwoofer. To me, that is a huge...

I know what you mean Jeremy and I agree. Assuming this is the problem, not everyone that bought DVE knows that you need to calibrate the sub's in-room frequency response, before you can use the DVE subwoofer extended frequency tone. IMO most people have been caught out by DVE's tone and it...

Maybe JK should have printed a warning on DVE, "must use a parametric equaliser with these calibration tones"...

I was thinking, maybe the easiest way is to compare dates of the files on the DVE DVD. All the files on my DVD have the date 3rd November 2003 (6:34pm), but it should be taken into account that this is the PAL version. The NTSC version may be dated differently.

So DVE may have a subwoofer tone that is affected by your room acoustics, while the other calibration DVDs have tones that are not, significantly, affected? Now I am even more confused. Why would they use a tone that is affected, so badly, by room acoustics, that would make the tone useless for...

We need more input, as Jeremy Anderson said it was now perfect in his setup. So that means that either, they have corrected it, or Jeremy is doing something different to everyone else :confused:

If they have corrected DVE, do you think it will be possible to exchange discs, or do you think they will want to keep it quiet?

Before I calibrated with DVE, I positioned my subwoofer using some test tones. I ran a frequency sweep, with the separate tones below for the subwoofer and plotted the results in a spreadsheet. This showed me how the subwoofer was responding in my room. Here is the spreadsheet...

I am using "The Ultimate DVD Platinum". The NTSC version, as there was no PAL version. I am still using it for speaker calibration. The DVE is great for picture calibration, but I felt I could not trust (or understand) the DVE calibration tones. Does this look correct, this is a more recent...

I just want to report that I get similar results to Edward, with the recently released "PAL" version of DVE. I posted in an Australian forum that I measured a difference of 13db between my surrounds and the subwoofer, but I did not know why. Thanks for this detailed information.
