My personal favorite would be Revel Salon's, but for under $ 1000.00, I would look at the SVS website. You get a lot of sound with good imaging for the money. Their packages allow for different sub's to be considered. I prefer to stay with direct radiating and have six matching speakers and the...
I have a 60" Sony LCOS (SXRD XBR2) and everyone comments on how good it looks during our football get togethers (Go Pats!). No one has noticed any off angle viewing degradation. Al. Wise
Since adding a Pioneer Elite BDP-94HD Blu Ray player to my rack, the Denon 2900 has been doing audio only duty. I have thought about upgrading it to a Cambridge Audio, or Cary unit, but the Denon sounds so good to me. I may send it out and get it "Hot Rodded" by one of the companies doing...
Ok, after getting the notice on Friday that my free disks are on back order until Nov. 4th, they showed up in the mail yesterday. This is very good. Go figure. Al. Wise
I just received a notice in the mail stating that the disks are on back order and that they will be shipping on 11/4. I had sent my order in on 8/2. Has anyone else gotten the same notice. The crazy thing is that it gives you the option of canceling the order if you like. I can't help but...
Up for sale is a pair of the much sought after Boston Acoustics VR-M50 bookshelf speakers in dark cherry. This are in beautiful condition and were only used as back surrounds in 7.1 system. I have gone VR-M60's all around. Price is $ 350.00 plus shipping from 03060. Digital photo's on...
I have upgraded and purchased an AudioControls SA-3050 RTA (Real Time Analyzer) to perform further acoustic analysis of my system and listening area. I think I will pit my Radio Shack SPL meter against it and see how close they are in SPL measurments. Al Wise
Truan, I recently purchased the new Pioneer Elite BDP-94HD and like it alot. It is one of the pricier units, but the sound and picture it produces are excellent in my opinion. Al Wise
Donald, You're B&K amp will not be too powerful. By the time you feed the speakers more power than they can handle, your ears will be bleeding from too much sound. The problem is typically just the reverse. People try to run difficult speakers with too little power. As far as position of...
Hello, I apologize for not responding sooner to those that PM'd me over the weekend. As a thank you to my wife for being so understanding with my latest audio/video upgrades, I took her to Quebec City to celebrate our anniversary. I have responded to the PM's that were sent. I am open to...
Price drop to $ 475.00 plus shipping from 03060. If you want a complete 7.1 system I will combine the Boston CR-75's (with wall mounts), VR-C, and my Acoustic Research sealed 12" down fire sub (250 watt amp) for a total of $ 1250.00 for everything, but local pickup, or meeting part way would...
I have upgraded to separates and my beloved Denon 3805 is now going up for sale. I bought it new from Tweeter in May of 2005 and it has spent it's life in a non-smoking, no pets, no children home. It comes with the optional calibration Mic. Also, the original touch screen remote was never...
Wyz_sub10, How much are you looking to spend? I just switched to separates and I am about to list my Denon 3805 in the hardware for sale area for $ 525.00 plus shipping. However, I am open to offers. I bought it new at Tweeter in 2005 and I have the calibration mic also. It's in perfect...
Dackz, I find bass to be more pronounced on "DTS" than "Dolby Digital" films. I have a Led Zepplin DVD that exhibits a considerable difference between the two. You may need to adust your sub's level depending on what the movie is applying at the time. Al Wise
DiegoD, How do you have the sub connected to the receiver? If it is a self powered sub, you should be connecting it to your "LFE" out on the receiver. You will then need to go into the receiver's set up menu and and select "LFE" and set the appropriate cross over point. Al Wise
Kevin, Congrats on joining the Boston team! You can call Boston Acoustics at 978-538-5000. Work through the voice menu until you get to "Parts". I did so a couple of weeks ago to get some small parts for a pair of my VR-M60's. I received the parts I needed in less than three days...
Randy, Do a search for this and you will find several instances of the same problem in the past. It's been a while since I read one, but I know it was covered. Good luck, Al Wise
Pioneer Elite BDP-H94. Retired the Denon DVD-2900 to audio only. My only complaint about the Pioneer is the lengthy start up time, but I understand that this is status quo for Blu-Ray players. Al Wise
Bump for a great AMP Just over a week ago I bought a new one from my local dealer along with the matching 7010A processor. I paid considerably more than Mike is asking for this 115 pound monster. Good Luck, Al Wise
Blobula, Seeing as your Sony TV does not support HDMI in, why don't you spend your money on a more powerful used receiver that someone is selling due to upgraditis. I bet there are many possibilities for you. Al Wise
The Sony "STR" line is weak to say the least. Both the Yamaha and Onkyo would be steps above that. While your looking, you might want to add Denon, Marantz, Pioneer and such to your list. However, a good brand of HDMI switcher would be another solution. If you are dead set on upgrading your...
