The Best Buy HD-DVD promotion should be for every title under $35 in store, online it is only a specific list. I picked up Stardust, The Kingdom, and Pan's Labyrinth for $66 and change out the door. Oh, and the HD-DVD of Pan's Labyrinth is $32.99 at Best Buy this week, same as the Blu-ray...
I just cracked my set open an noticed that my "Look, Up In The Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman" disc graphics don't match the rest of the set (or the artwork on the package showing all 14 discs). Not that it matters too much, I just thought it was odd. Are other sets like this?
There is a good discussion about it on this very site, here http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...d.php?t=246260 It starts off talking about the missing original 1978 soundtrack (which is listed as a feature) and then also gets into the incorrect Superman III disc.
Clerks II and the Superman Ultimate Collection for me this week. I hope WB does a quick exchange for the 2 bad discs in the collection (Superman 1 theatrical cut not having the original sound mix and Superman 3 being the wrong disc).
I noticed that the package shows that it's presented at 1.78:1 instead of 1.85:1 ratio. I recall that they did this with the previous release which upset some people (myself included). I was hoping they would have corrected this for the new special edition release.
This can't really be said for the later half of season 2.5. The opening "previously on BSG" parts on a few of the shows contain scenes that were deleted from previous episodes! This confused me a bit when the episodes were airing last spring as it caused me to think I may have missed something...
I was going to get X-Men 3 this week, but now that word is out about the double dip, I'll wait for the 2 disc version. I'm confused about the POTA TV series. Is it the 2 disc animated one or the 4 disc live action? Best Buy's web site shows the 4 disc live action series.
I was hoping that we would also get the super long "international cut" of Superman The Movie. This set feels incomplete without it. Even though most of the added footage is cheesy at best, it would be nice to have.
Anyone notice that it will cost more at Best Buy to purchase the 4 movie / 8 disc box set of the Harry Potter movies then it will to buy them each seperately? Unless my math is wrong. 8.99 + 8.99 + 8.99 + 20.99 = 47.96, which is less then their 49.99 price for the set. Brilliant move on...
This makes no sense if you are a fan of watching movies in their original aspect ratios. You do realize that a 1.85 movie will (or should, depending on how your TV is setup) display small black bars along the top and bottom on your 16:9 TV right?
I was planning on getting Saw II until I read about them messing with the aspect ratio (changing it from 1.85:1 to 1.78:1). Now I'm not even going to bother renting it as I don't want to show any support at all for this practice. Hopefully they won't do this to the eventual Saw II Unrated...
Considering that the original Saw had a nice 2 disc uncut edition come out about 6 months after the first release, I'm afraid that Saw II (which comes out in a couple of weeks) will also be a double dip. Is there any indication that one will happen, or am I just being double dip paranoid these days?
I'm passing on Mr. & Mrs. Smith because it's a Fox release so we know that there will be a double dip special edition coming soon (I'm going to pass on Fantastic Four next week for the same reason). I just can't trust Fox anymore. Besides, from reading other sections of this site it's...
The sound problems... In a nut shell, on the episode IV DVD some of the sound cues are missing and/or muted and the music (not the effects) on the rear channels are reversed. Personally I have a bigger issue with the inconsistand color/brightness/contrast levels throughout all 3 movies of...
I'm going to pass on it (probably rent it though). I'm waiting for special editions of both Reloaded and Revolutions. They both need commentary tracks. I expect that we'll see them within a year (if not by Christmas of this year).
What I'd like to know is when did digitaleyes change their used DVD policy to give only store credit? I've sent DVDs to them in the past and have gotten a check sent to me. Now I've sent them more DVDs and even though nothing on their web site suggests a change, I'm told that they only give...
What's the difference between the Highlander "Immortal Edition" DVD and the newer single DVD release? I know that the original Highlander DVD was terrible, so I'm looking at upgrading it. I get the impression that the Immortal Edition contains the same disc as the single disc edition, but with...
I got my set last night at Sam's Club for $63.86 and think I've either discovered a bug or have a bad disc. While watching the extended version of Alien 3 on my Sony DVP-NC615 in anamorphic mode, I've noticed that I can't completely turn off subtitles. By default the movie plays with subtitles...
