the inputs are going directly from the dvd player into my jvc tv.

a buddy of mine gave me his friends dvd player to look at. for some reason, when you play a dvd, the picture is up about 3 inches from the bottom of the screen and it is in black and white. i think it is a cheap player, the maker is Norvent. what could cause this to happen?

that probably explains why you can see the dots (lines) more on my brothers 36" Vega Analog tv then you can see on my 36" JVC HDTV

so hdtv's have more pixels then regular analog tvs?

i am waiting til directv comes out with a High Def Receiver with TIVO built in, then i will get it.

sonys are overpriced IMO, plus i dont think the picture is very clear on the non hd models. my 36" jvc hdtv blows away my brother sony 36" non hd model 310 when it comes to picture quality. you can see the pixels/what they are called alot more in his then in mine and we both have non hd service.

the contrast was set about 50% on my 36' jvc hdtv for a few months until i got avia. then i adjusted it down to about 20%, picture is not as bright but looks SOOOOOOOOOOOO much clearer. i have yet to see a crt tube that beats the clarity of mine.

how did you post a picture in your post?

not all movies are in 16:9 some movies are in different aspect ratios. i believe it depends on how the producers wanted to produce it.

when is Directv going to come out with a HDTV reciever with TIVO on it? I want to get HDTV but directv only has 4 channels with their package. also, i have a jvc 36" HDTV, if i got hd, would it automatically be displayed in 16:9 or will i have to push the 16:9 botton on the remote...

isnt the sony 46" a good RPTV? I have heard nothing but good reviews on it at www.circuitcity.com they have alot of buyer review there on products. i would go with the sony 46" or the toshiba 46", but the toshiba has the red push problem. p.s. what is the convergence??

what does "as is" mean? so what would that "as is" mean for a tv? but how would they fix the crack? they could replace the whole front plastic housing, if that is possible to find just the front of this year old model.

the main issue now is the crack, because the purity problme is much better, but still not perfect.

how would it confuse them?
