I've been eager to see this since reading "Ghost Soldiers". I'm assuming this movie is based on the book "The Great Raid", but the two are about the same event. Regardless, I'm eager to see this, and I hope the film itself holds true to the feeling of the book.
Yeah, all of this talk of a release date is well and good. I'm ready to see some specs and cover art. I'm with most everyone else, though. I'm going to get Batman and Batman Returns and maybe Batman Forever (just for the DC), but there's no way I'll ever own Batman and Robin.
I didn't see this in the theatres, but I am looking fwd to picking it up on DVD. I was kind of surprised there was no "unrated" release to go along w/ the theatrical cut. From what I understand this movie is ripe with opportunity for an unrated release.
Just a heads up to those interested: the Hellboy boxset is available at the Best Buy at Bailey's Crossroads in Falls Church, VA. They had about 30 in stock. I didn't pick one up b/c I haven't seen the film, but it is a pretty sweet lookin' set. Priced at $42.99 I believe.
I'm glad this thread got brought back up. I've been hoping to see Scorsese's preferred cut since the first time I saw this film. HEre's a link that speaks of his 3.5 hr vision http://slate.msn.com/id/2075910/ Other articles I have seen say Scorsese had to edit it for the Weinsteins, and...
That's the same trailer that's on the DVD for Gangs of New York. Maybe that's just the one that was put out before the film was going to be split up? I don't know, but I was wondering the same thing earlier when I put in my GoNY DVD (had to watch that BEAUTY of an opening battle one more time)...
Nick, Planet of the Apes is one of those I bought and never watch. From Hell was the "free" in a buy two, get one free. Daredevil? What can I say? I have a celebrity crush on Jennifer Garner. Oh, yeah, my girlfriend owns the Godfather collection, so I won't be needing that. Thanks for the...
To Robert's collection: Best Three: (film quality) (in my opinion) Being John Malkovich Chinatown Fight Club (would be more, but the game is three, right?) Worst Three: (film quality, again, IMO) Matrix Reloaded ...can't find two others that I have seen that I can judge...

When I first saw it, I hated it. I put it in one night as background noise to write a paper, and now it's one of my favorite films. I think it does take a second viewing. The first time I saw it, I was disgusted, but the second time I found it hilarious.
Great idea...I've been wanting to participate in one of these but I also get on right behind some guy with a huge collection... Okay, here goes (nothing personal of course, just my opinion): To Joe Fisher's Collection: Best Three: A Christmas Story LotR Collection Goodfellas (for...
I've only see Grand Illusion , but I was curious if I would enjoy this film if I enjoyed the other one. I've been wanting to pick up Grand Illusion, and if Rules of the Game is just as enjoyable I may as well pick it up, too. Thanks for any info.
You could use the scene from FotR when Gandalf tells Frodo that he must take the Ring to Mordor to destroy. That's a pretty powerful scene if you are looking for something to discuss making tough choices.
I finally got around to watching this movie last night, and I can say that I really enjoyed it. I had heard enough to not expect an X-Men-like tour de force, and I really appreciated the tone and pacing of the movie. I never got bored with it, and I was drawn in from the opening credits (which...
I thought of another one...in The Matrix while he is riding with Switch and Trinity in the cab, he gets out of the car at one point, and they say to him, "No, Neo, you've been down that road before" and he looks down a road. What in the world is that road? Have I missed something completely, or...
I've only found this on Amazon, but now that I know about it I want it today. Anyone seen it in any B&M stores? DOes it come in anything other than a jewel case? Thanks for any additional info, and thanks to the OP for the heads up. I wish I had been paying attention sooner.
Okay, sorry, but I'm bringing this one back from the dead: The scene in Old School where the kids are trying to get Will Ferrell's character to drink, and he tells them that he has a "nice little Saturday planned" for the next day. Well, the next day we see Mitch (Luke Wilson's character) in...
X2 was the only one that you listed (in my opinion) that was any good. Also, Pirates of the Caribbean should be getting a good release as well, and I think it's safe to say that movie is THE summer blockbuster of 2003. To me, PotC and X2 were the best summer films (that I can think of right...
Okay, sorry, I've evidently missed something here...there is a separate DVD release along with the CD set? I thought I had all my bases covered with the 2 disc CD set, but it seems I may have been mistaken...thanks for any other info.
Wow, if this had been posted at a certain other board you would've been ripped to pieces b/c of the "3,487 other threads about this".
But over here people are a lot more accomodating. I've been waiting to pick up Goodfellas since my original copy go stolen (along w/ the rest of my collection)...
This movie was pretty decent. My girlfriend loves it, and I don't mind Jennifer Lopez in it so much as I probably would if it were made today. I can't help but think it may have been delayed b/c of the recent stuff with J-Lo and Affleck. Could it also be that they are waiting for a new Robin...
I moderately enjoyed the theatrical cut, but I haven't had the chance to see the Extended cut (bootleg edition), but I have certainly heard that it adds alot to the movie.
My only problem is that it seems that Kate Hudson took this movie and drove a wedge into what was one one the last great...
I just found my envelope to send these discs back, and I was curious if anyone could validate the claims that the video quality on the "corrected" discs is not as good as the quality on the "uncorrected" discs. I searched for answers, but I couldn't find any concrete answers. BTW, I looked at...
Chuck, I just stumbled upon this thread since you bumped it, and I can say that I know how it feels to be burglarized. Although my collection wasn't nearly as large as yours was, I had my DVDs, DVD player, and laptop all stolen one summer weekend in 2002. THe cops didn't do jack, and only one...
Dave, I was initially playing it on my girlfriend's Dad's Samsung 2-in-1. I'm gonna check it on my Panasonic rp-62 later tonight. It hasn't been any discs except disc 5. I'll update later if I don't have a problem on my panny as it is my primary player. Thanks for the link to the other...
I searched through this thread, and I didn't want to start a new one, so I'm gonna post this question right here. My gf and I were watching the first two episodes on disc 5 last night, and I noticed both some music and dialogue skipping. I have played this on another player yet (b/c I don't...
I picked this set up on Saturday evening, and my g/f and I watched the first four episodes. Unfortunately she's out of town now, and I told her I wouldn't watch any more of it until she got back. I never saw S1, but I am familiar w/ S2 and I was afraid that I would not enjoy it knowing what ends...
I don't think it is so much that everyone is "dumping this" so much as Artisan is GREAT about dropping prices on their discs relatively soon after release. This is one reason I really like their stuff...don't buy it on release day and you can save about $5 later on down the road. BUt that's just...
