    US vs Canadian DVD pricing

Sometimes you can get a good deal in Canada. When I was in Vancouver in July, the HMV store on Robson had the 24 Season Two DVD box set for $29.99 CDN. It still costs around $57 at Best Buy in the US.

    Smallville - New Season

Does Green K become ineffective when Clark is under the influence of Red K? The Kents should have just picked up some in Smallville to subdue Clark and remove the Red K ring.

    Another TV watching dilemma tonight.

Smallville/Angel, with Enterprise/Jake 2.0 recorded. No baseball playoffs for me, because I hate all the teams in the playoffs.

Gilmore Girls - 9/30/03 - The Lorelais' First Day at Yale

Yes, it looks like the show is back. The new roommate and classmates are probably no replacements for Madeline and Louise, though. The real Paris is just underneath the surface, ready to drive Rory and the new girl nuts. The last scene with Lorelai in the empty house was one of the best in...

    Miss Match Ongoing Thread

Apparently, JOA killed this in the ratings, just the opposite of what I would have expected. So watch it while you still can.

    Las Vegas 9/22/03 (Pilot)

It came in last in its time slot against CSI:Miami, so they are wisely moving it to 9PM, opposite MNF. If it survives the football season, it may have a future, but I wouldn't bet on it. I couldn't tell if I was watching the old Vega$ show with Robert Urich (shots of Danny, who is kind of...

    Cold Case 09/28/03 Series Premiere

Definitely continuing the trend towards strong, super-competent women in law enforcement roles, with one to check in (Karen Sisco). Kathryn Morris plays a Philly homicide detective who gets stuck with a 27 year old case. I liked her approach to investigation, which was kind of like Columbo's...

Alias Season Premiere - 09/28/03 - The Two

There are a number of things that strained credibility this week. Sydney goes rogue and is declared an enemy of the state. Upon retrieving the chip that has all the knowledge in the world about some project, she comes waltzing into the CIA office without being challenged, and then blackmails the...

About that new "E" news live anchor...

Jules Asner is a tough act to follow. Wild On has still not recovered from her moving on from that show. Revealed must have been successful enough that Jules can leave her post with E! News Live. Jules probably wouldn't have any trouble making the jump to one of the major networks, perhaps on...

    Miss Match Ongoing Thread

Yes, it's unusual to have two new watchable shows on Friday nights, and they put them on opposite each other. Both Miss Match and JOA really look like Sunday night material, but it looks like Sunday might be becoming crime fighting/spy night. I've always liked Alicia, but she really hasn't...

    She Spies 09/28/03 Season Premier

This show has absolutely no buzz. On any other show, a reengineering as significant as this one had would have had some buzz, either on Usenet, or on this board. Jack, the bumbling handler from last year is gone, replaced by a new handler, Mr. Cross. Mr. Cross is the anti-Jack, all business...

    Joan of Arcadia Ongoing thread

I'm surprised to see this show on CBS instead of the WB. It has the WB formula down pat - the good looking kids, the teen angst, the great pop/rock music soundtrack. If Joan had seen the movie "A Beautiful Mind", she would be wondering if she was schizophrenic like Russell Crowe's character...

Without a Trace 09/25/03 Season Premier

It bothered me when they asked Poppy Montgomery to surrender her gun and take time off, when Eric Close was allowed to keep his gun and keep working. Both of them shot one of the suspects, so they should have been treated the same.

    DOCTOR WHO - coming back!

Good news, but it looks like they might incorporate the Paul McGann TV movie as canon, which would mean the Doctor being half human will have to be considered canon. I was hoping it could be ignored, like those Peter Cushing movies.

Horror Channel set to debut in 04!!

I think they'll have a hard time getting carriage, since the emphasis now is on adding HDTV channels. If this channel isn't owned by Comcast, it will have a real hard time getting on the system. Fine Living and DIY are still not carried by Comcast, at least locally.

    Gilmore Girls 9/23/03 Season Premiere

I noticed Jane Espenson has a co-exec producer credit on Gilmore Girls now. Good to see all the former Buffy people getting steady work.

CSI: Miami - 9/22/03 (Season Premiere)

This recalls the classic episode of Columbo where the murderer had diplomatic immunity and Columbo couldn't touch him. The crux of the episode was how Columbo was going to get his man. Emily Proctor is the main reason to watch this show. David Caruso's character is not really likeable, and...
