Really excited about Dick Tracy. Some of the others are a nice addition, especially the animated ones.
I wonder if Dick Tracy would include Roller Coaster Rabbit in 1080p? :) I guess I'll join the chorus of people asking why not, and ask "Why no Roger Rabbit?" :) Either way, I don't think I've...
going to go to Best Buy to pick up my UP preorder along with Monsters Inc...
will definitely be trying to use the Monsters $8 coupon plus the UP coupon...
Those of you that haven't seen at least High Anxiety and are skipping it are missing out! It's a great movie :)
Apparently the 2005 Producers has a Japanese BD that is pretty good and in English and Region free. I haven't felt the need to try to import it though. We'd probably have it already...
Interesting release... Mr. Toad's Wild Ride still packs them in at Disneyland, BTW. Pooh Bear evicted him from Florida, but he evicted The Country Bears from Disneyland in Aneheim. I am assuming this is no better than the version in The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad which I am assuming...
I thought the PQ on this was amazing. Period. No room for discussion - perfection. I watched it with the Disneyview "bars" turned on. Most of the time they were unobtrusive, but there were times when there was fast cutting (the climax of the Pleasure Island scene" and the bars changed...
Plenty of sub-200 BluRay players now... I wouldn't spend a nickel on a DVD player anymore. Even for an SD-TV at this point, I'd just buy a BD so I could keep up with the latest formats.
I just picked up this TV today--- my first truly HD set! I ordered my HDMI cable this afternoon, so right now my BD is connected via Component Cables, so no upconversion for my SD's yet. I'm watching Roger Rabbit Vista Series right now... can't wait til this movie comes out on BluRay. Love...
I can't blame them for not including BTTF: The Ride on the previous release. The ride only recently closed at the Universal Studios Theme Park - where it was replaced with The Simpsons Ride... ironically a property only about 4 years fresher than BTTF.
I tried to use it too. I couldn't pass up the chance for the other 2 Teddy Ruxpin sets for under $9, shipped. I sent them an email. Hopefully they will give me a make-good offer.
according to BestBuy Black Friday Ad and Best Buy Black Friday Deals for 2008 Insignia BD - $249.99 Samsung BD - $199.99 Sony BD - $249.99 No models given. I wouldn't expect them to sell many Insignias though, even if its the only Profile 1.1 player out of the 3. (Again no idea which...
already grabbed Kung Fu Panda and WDT: Donald 4.... thinking about picking up HellBoy II at "first week" price. Otherwise I guess I'll wait til its 19.99... cause I still need to get Wall-e on Tuesday. arrgh.
Yeah, I don't think they will go MAR on BluRay anymore. I think for BluRay the era of MAR is dead.) Alright actually I think I spoke too soon. Who's to say they don't abandon the 1.66:1 AR of the CAPS DVD's ("Family Friendly Widescreen") for a standard 1.78:1 ... I don't know how big of a...
There was no "Kramer" show, but Michael Richards did a show, where he played a private investigator that looked and acted exactly like Cosmo Kramer :-)
I would say that THX certification on software has zero effect on if someone will purchase a title or not. Perhaps those of us who read HomeTheaterForum.com reviews for things like "edge enhancement" and other PQ problems might care if a title is certified (if we thought the certification meant...
Wouldn't it be nice if we were able to tell our players what tracks to look for and autoselect them? Maybe a priority list so if it doesn't find a PCM track, look for DTS-MA, or DDPlus, or DD5.1 kind of going down the line? :-D Dreaming.... lol.
In the commentary with the film, it is also brought up quite early on - the film was made for Technirama in 2.55:1, but by the time the film was finished Technirama had basically been replaced by 2.35:1 Cinemascope - so they cropped it to fit. All the experts looked at the artwork and all...
My first player was a Panasonic DVD-A120... I got it as a Christmas gift in 1999... my dad got it for $199.99 ... also got South Park: Bigger Longer Uncut and Pinnocchio with it - Player still works great. First BluRay (Only BD) Sharp BD-HP20, $249
Adam, from what I gather (I have a profile 1.0 player as well so I don't know 100% for certain) but all you get with this "CineExplore" is a picture in picture video of Lasseter, Maltin, and Deja doing the commentary... so you can listen to the commentary without using Cineexplore and get all...
I am pretty sure that all BluRay versions come with an SD-DVD version as well. Obvioulsy before you buy a BluRay,read the box carefully to make sure ;) As far as I know the BD has all the bonus features the SD has, plus a more indepth "Cine-explore" commentary type thing. I don't know if...
How about "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" also if they like cartoons still, they might not have seen Looney Tunes Back in Action (who did, really? and they were like 5 when it was new). MouseHunt and Back to the Future are good choices as well. Maybe "Spaceballs"? I loved that one when I was...
Can't speak for anyone else's players. I have the Sharp BD-HP20 and it automatically pillarboxes 4X3 material. The Sharp does not have a zoom mode for dealing with Letterbox 4x3 (as opposed to anamorphic 16x9) material, I have to use the zoom mode on my projector for that, otherwise I get the...
I'd just like to see a collection of the Mickey Mouseworks shorts that were made during the late 90's early 2000's (the House of Mouse show was filler between the cartoons). Some were OK, but a few were quite good. I'd like to see them put out in one shot.
actually from my understanding the commentary from the old DVD and another commentary (maybe from a laserdisc release?) were cobbled together to make one "new" commentary. So yes, commentary is "different", thought not new
I think Disney has moved on to BluRay.... They are already announcing platinum titles, so I would assume at least Hunchback and Hercules will get nice looking BD discs direct from the CAPS system. Perhaps when it comes time to revisit Black Couldron, John Lassetter who was a contemporary...
