Jan, must be nice. Only thing near me is BB and their catalog release section, or "non-New Rentals" as they call it, has been stagnant for the last couple of years. I read about this older title or that older title coming to DVD, but the rental copies never show up in my BB.
I'm in the camp that does not like this movie. In my mind, Grease begins and ends with the original movie, GREASE. Unfortunatley, my wife and daughter want me to add this to our collection. At least I have some comfort in knowing it is a very good quality movie, albeit that I think the plot...
Scott, I agree about STEEL MAGNOLIAS. Of course that scene really becomes great at the end, when Clairee is telling M'Lynn "you wanna hit someone, hit Ouiser". Also, for me, several points in FREQUENCY. This is probably one of my most favroite movies and a great father-son movie. I watched it...
Bob, another consideration is burn-in. Without turning this into a burn-in thread: 1. I know if your set is calibrated right and your contrast low enough, the experts here say you would not see burn-in by watching with the black bars. 2. However, if you watch a LOT of content with the...
Wow, my post disappeared, (I know, the database problem). Anyways, I too have noticed this. My local BB also had a lot of catalog titles (or non-"NEW" Releases) as they call them. But they haven't added to those for a good year or more. The only way more titles show up on the floor, (vs. the...
I hope if they stay with the 10 episodes vs. 13, (I'd prefer 13), that each episode is longer, at least a full hour. Many Sopranos episodes clock in at 45 - 50 minutes. If they're gonna only do 10, they ought to be a full 60 minutes each.
I like this version a lot, although it's a toss-up between this and Muppet's Christmas Carol as my favorite, i really think Michael Caine did a great job as Scrooge, too.
I don't buy it. If the Enterprise were to travel in the same basic direction as the storm, but let's say diverged by 45 degrees, at maximum warp, for one it would keep moving the Enterprise away from the storm track, laterally. Plus, with a shared forward component, this would negate some of the...
Crimson Tide
Hunt for Red October
Deep Impact
Armageddon
Titanic
Original Planet of the Apes (5 movies)
Mrs. Doubtfire (US)
True Lies
Plus the non-oar's like Christmas Vacation.
Especially CT & HFRO as Peter said.
I had a funny experience. When I first got DVD I had a copy of Twister and for a test I recorded it onto VHS, using my older Go-Video VCR. When I watched the tape, it was flawless, and a much better picture quality than you get even on pre-recorded tapes. Then I played the same tape in another...
If the damn studios would quit releasing so much varying quality product between different regions, many people would not even be looking at region-free players. Like no Anamorphic Mrs. Doubtfire or Armageddon in Region 1, even though they are available in other regions. And I'm sure there...
Joey, that is interesting. While I consider myself a widescreen supporter and am not a 'no black bars at any cost' kind of person, I do prefer to have most of my 16x9 screen filled. That is why I bought one in this AR and also so large, to be closer to a theater performance. That is why I prefer...
I hope that Tony and Carm get back together fairly early in the next season. At least by the 3rd episode. Too much of what makes this such a great show is the dynamic between them and also between Tony's business and family. Have Carm start getting second thoughts about divorce, (too...
Well, they could have someone stand in there until the movie gets going, like the first 5 minutes. Then those people, (all who were 'watching' the 3-4 movies starting at this time), could leave to do other stuff, or watch and make sure another one starts properly. One major problem is most of...
I rent a lot. Things I consider real blockbusters, (fro example, AOTC, HP, Spiderman, LOTR, Star Trek) I will see in the theater. If I liked one of those enough I'll just buy the DVD. But most other movies, I just wait and rent the DVD. Many of those, even if I liked them, I don't think I'd have...
