Greed was mentioned in the last WHV chat: "DavidBarrios - Ok.First time attending one of these chats and I'm glad to be here. Remembering the DVD Decision 2005 vote, I remember that Greed, Von Stroheim's masterpiece, was one of the candidates and naturally, didn't win. When can we expect a...
I wonder if they could stick dual layered HD-DVD/BD on these. ;) Really, I'm curious about the price of these since, in principle, you'll basically be paying for both formats. It may be cheaper to produce one of these instead of 3 different discs, but the same doesn't apply for the consumer.
Watching the general gamers' reaction on the web post E3 has been, to say the least, surprising. Nintendo and Wii actually seem to have the upper hand at the moment and Sony's overconfidence might blow on their faces. Watching their E3 conferece I found it surprisingly underwhelming...
On the other hand, if what Aaron_Brez says is true then HD discs are better in the sence that, unlike SD-DVD, the black bars that are used to fill the 16:9 frame won't be part of what is stored on the disc, so less space will be wasted.
I love some of his movies but Imust agree that he is pretty much an ups and downs director, not very consistent.
Another reason to wait for the DC of Kingdom of Heaven as the TC was pretty weak.
The image isn't cropped, it's just framed differently. While there's stuff missing from the right side, there's more information on the left. Look closer at the capture from Morpheo's glasses from the DVDBeaver comparision.
So basically the commentary for Alien3's assembly cut is the same as for the TC only, uh, differently paced? Do they both have the exact same information?
I've been searching for answers to a particular issue in this thread but so far no success. Thing is, as some of you know, while the R1 version of this collection features two commentary tracks per movie (one for each cut) the same does no apply to the ones outside R1 with, according to...
Short Fox: Alien Long Fox: Star Wars Warner Bros. / Village Roadshow: The Matrix Sony/Columbia: Spider-Man RKO: King Kong, definitely. New Line: for some reason, Seven. Carolco: T2 Orion: The Terminator Old Paramount: Indy Dreamworks: CGI animation HBO: The Sopranos Castle Rock...
Well, that could be because he edited the first movie together back in '78 and he never had the chance of doing the same with II. So for the 2001 cut he had a reference which he doesn't have for II. Anyway, I also thought that Thau also edited the 2001 edition and Donner just kinda supervised...
Well, that's something they could've asked Donner during the "16 Blocks" junkets (or whatever those were), instead of asking the same question in 20 different ways.;)
I never knew Hamilton came back. Actually, it doesn't even make sense since he wouldn't be able to shoot in England. Unless he did only to, as you say, map out the sequel and then leave. But Lester could've done that.
I dunno. Sounds like it'll be 2 disc edition they were talking about last year or so with the DC. The 3 movie version would be too much of a stretch and a complete 180 from that producer-guy's-what's-his-name position.
This is probabily the only way we could ever see Donner's footage incorporated into a movie. I don't think he would ever be willing to compromise and mix his footage with Lester's. Other than that I think Thau has more than enough information to make the best possible cut.
I wouldn't be so surprised. I mean, Fox has announced plans to release X-Men 2.5 before X3 hits the theatres. That's 3 years after X2 came out. Sony could very well do the same.
There's this petition with more info about the proposed "Terminator 3.5". http://www.petitiononline.com/t850/ If you're able to overlook the propaganda-like speech you'll still notice how it sounded quite ambitious. A few more details were published in thearnoldfans.com but I can't find...
