I love the fact that the Habs leading scorer can't get recognized by their #1 rival's fan base. They probably thought he was some toolbox frat boy making some extra buck shilling burgers. Should have used PK or Price, but then again, that wouldn't have gotten the same reaction.
Scott, David Pastrnak is from the Czech Republic, he just plays in Sweden. He's been described as a puck control monster (a "smaller version of Jagr") with a good two way game. He also looks to be a monster on the big stage, often doubling his regular season PPG average in tournament play...
That is absurd, unless you are discussing his role in the community. Shawn is the unofficial Mayor of Charlestown, he's woven himself into the community and he now calls Boston home. His charitable efforts are unmatched, his foundation is one of the most popular in town, and he is beloved by...
The fact that your very first post in this thread is to bust my chops about one of my last posts in this thread says more about you than me, phil*, as does your near pathological obsession with being schooled by me in the JFK thread years ago. Get over it.
Congrats to Scott M. and...
My favorite point in the series, and the most telling, was from after the very first shift in game 1. To begin with, Claude sent out the Krejci, Lucic, Iginla line with Bartkowski/Boychuck. He starts the Bergeron line with Chara's D 95% of the time. 10 seconds later, I figured out why he did...
Not so sure the Habs sat back just because of the lead. Their entire gameplan is based on sitting back, they are not a grind em out, relentless forecheck and cycle team. That is the Bruins. The Habs are a rope-a-dope team. They sit back and take the other team's best, relying on goalftending...
I've seen interviews with both. Off-ice PK is well-spoken, professional, and extremely personable. A real classy guy and the atithesis of his on-ice persona.
Well that would be a serious conundrum for Habs fans. They would lose the race card when people complain about PK being a jackwagon, because Simmonds is as standup a guy there is. I'm getting pretty sick of the automatic accusations of racism when people complain about PK's antics, or Evander...
I think this team is better too, and the reason is just what you state: Krug and Hamilton. Krug is OK in his own end for a real little guy (him and Marchand have a running gag on who is taller) but we haven't see PP performance like his since a guy named Bourque roamed the blue line. He also...
The Wings are just too young and too unexperienced. Bad lapses by Babcock last night, but the Bruins would have broken through anyway, and the Wings offense was impotent against the stifling Bruins D. I don't think I saw more than one or two times where the Bruins were even close to trouble...
Happens all the time. If they suspended guys for cup checks, they'd be issuing 3-4 a game. It's a dirty move, and can be dangerous, but listen to Pierre, Milbury, Amonte, JR, and Edzo; all of them said it happens behind the play more times than anyone knows, and Milbury, Amonte and JR...
As stated, better build quality. Basically you get what you pay for. Genesis is heavier guage steel, better fittings, better hardware, etc. No experience with the Spirit, but the Genesis models my family has owned are tanks. Buy a cover and they should last 10+ years with very few troubles...
As I have said before, I never make predictions. So I'll just say: Let the the second season of the most exciting sport on Earth begin! Goodbye to shootouts, goodbye to 4 on 4 5 minute OT, goodbye to ticky-tack penalties, hello to grit and balls and determination beating overrated talent, and...
Guy Lafleur isn't walking through that door. Larry Robinson isn't walking through that door. Jacques Lemaire isn't walking through that door (though he may be coaching soon, because he has the penultimate requirement for coaching the Habs!).
In a stunning example of life imitates art; the charity hockey games imagined by Denis Leary and the writers of Rescue Me come true:

The only thing missing is Lyndon Byers and Cam Neely as a couple of ringers!
It doesn't include most of them. +/- does not count power play goals, just even strength and shorthanded. Considering that many of Ovy's goals are on the PP and his defense is nonexistent, you can see where he can get a large minus.
The NHL is starting a new ad campaign based on the Stanley Cup being stolen. The funniest comments I heard about this was:
"Leafs fans took it 'If we cant have it, no one can!'"
"I'm pretty sure they don't know what it looks like."
Hate the call on the faux hand pass that would have been an empty net goal to end it, but at least they took it in the horrible "insult-to-the-sport-to-end-with-a-gimmick-I'd-rather-see-a-tie" shootout. Sick move by Bergeron on his shootout goal, having previously gone 5-hole in 99.9978% of his...
We will agree to disagree. Though you'll notice, once again, that Miller dropped the gloves for his bad hit on Weise. Too bad for Moen that he didn't know Miller was a bull, but Miller did answer the bell. Unlike Emelin, and Subban, and any number of other Habs who turtle and call to the...
Depends on the player. Emelin has a reputation, not quite Cooke, but certainly equal to Orpik. He also lost a season to hitting Lucic straight on, so there is history ( a lot more "history" than Habs fans claimed existed between Chara and Pacioretty). And legal or not, Emelin went low, he...
The Bruins are dirty when they have to be, I'm not taking any moral high ground on that one. But they answer for it, like Boychuk was willing to with PK. There was nothing illegal about the hip check, but it was low, and if you are going to go low you may have to answer for it. Marchand did...
Seriously. And if I hear that the reason Emelin won't fight is because "he's got a metal plate in his face!!" one more time, I'm going to strangle a puppy. If 'ol Plate Face can't back up his actions, then he shouldn't be lighting people up with questionable hits. Marchand has submarined two...
It's not just the cost savings, it's the health factor. I quit soda for 7-8 years because it is really, really, (no, I mean REALLY!) bad for you. Everyone has heard about the perils of high fructose corn syrup. Diet bottled soda has aspertame, which is basically poison. The sodium level in...
That Bruins-Hawks game was a gem, especially after the circus that was the Habs-Bruins the other night. The Blackhawks play the game "the right way", and no offense to Scott, but those Habs most certainly do not. Last night's game proved that the Bruins can and will play any style the other...
The Marchand penalty was pitiful. Matching at least, a PP was not out of the question, but to be on the kill after he gets crosschecked and punched was absurd. The Lucic hit was also a BS call. The Sabre quite obviously turned his numbers and there was no way Lucic could pull up.
