A couple pics of the basement The area behind the doors in the unfinished furnace & laundry area. There is insulation behind the tv wall and have dropped the cables with either a heavy screw or small wrench. The opposite wall is has no insulation as this is a semi detached home. If I had...
The basement was done with little thought to audio. I am kicking myself now.
There is a 40"Samsung lcd mounted with cabinets to the side. The may be absorbing some of the sound coming from the tv and not letting it travel to where we are sitting.
What are my options for speakers so we can get...
Very tempting. You'll still need to get a harddrive for your downloads. I have all my media in avi format so for me to use it as a media server, I'm outta luck. There is nothing wrong with my xbox but to upgrade to a xbox 360 'cuz it looks nicer.....still very tempting. How's the 360 with...
On-line play is lots of fun. I remember Lan parties at lunch hour at my old job, Half Life & Duke Nukem. It's been a couple years since going online and I am planning on getting a ps3 in the next couple months and look forward to going on line. Is the PSN similar to Live except free?
I just had a chance to stop in at Future Shop during lunch, they have the new 80gb units available for $399, there are a couple of the old 80gb MGS4 bundles left for $499. I was so tempted. While browsing the aisles, is there anything else I need to get when I get the system? Cooling fan? I...
no kidding. If you don't stay on top of this, it is down right confusing. My ps2 is like new, hooked up via component to the lcd tv. Do I really need a PS3 that is backward compatible....it would be nice, one less piece of equipment hooked up. I haven't seen any price change here but I haven't...
Isn't the 360 getting a price drop next month? or has it already happened? BestBuy had a nice package a couple weeks ago with the 40gb PS3 and 2 games for $399. Can't remember which games - but I am holding out for the next package deal.
Dave - it comes down to what you want out of the system. If its gaming, the xbox seems to have a larger library of games along with what appears to me to be more games on the horizon. The xbox live network is setup alot better from what I hear and read but then again you are paying for it...
I think the kitchen then tiling a majority of the 1st floor will be about 30 PS3's. But then you know what, what's an PS3 when we just spent close to 30 PS3's?
Dave - Do all married guys read from the same book or what? Too many similarities when reading through this thread. I've pretty much come down to the same conclusion with the Xbox360 & the PS3. I have both of the previous gen consoles and if I were single and still living at home then I would...
hmm....for $100 difference between the 40gb & 80gb - i can have 2 extra usb ports, flash card reader & ps2 playback. the only thing i can think of with the usb ports is my external hd where I store movies/tv/music & my psp The Ps3 for me will be like a media server then for the...
I had heard that even with the backward compatibility not all games will work. I have a decent length component cable for the ps2 so I'll fish that down through the wall and use the ps2....whenever I get a chance to play games. The wife is in favour of the ps3 as we'll have a blu ray player, and...
interesting....I'll have to do a little more research on the PS3. For one, since I have a good little library of PS2 games, should I go for the 80gb and have some backward playback or just settle for the 40gb and keep the ps2 hooked up. I would like to keep my av setup relatively clean, just the...
Is there any rumors on a new playstation 3 or other units going into production? ie. the 60gb..... ? Just curious, What are ppl storing on the harddrives?
I don't think the receiver will upconvert to component....I'll have to look into that. The S-Video + Audio is for watching videos from the computer. I like that idea of the recessed outlet. I will add that to the plans. I've seen some nice wall units which would fill in the area nicely...
I have the Yamaha RXV1200 which only got a year and halfs worth of use. We are currently planning a basement renovation and of course the first thing I am worrying about is wiring for audio & video. Even though the Yamaha receiver is a couple years old and is not as fancy as the current ones...
I recently purchased the Samsung DVDR150 to replace the vcr. I had no problem recording off the satellite. The problem was having the expressvu control the recorder. Does anyone have a setup with the bell expressvu and a dvd recorder working properly or should I just get the pvr from bell?
