I use the Ah! Tube CD player. It can be found on the Upscale Audio website: It Ah!Tube CD Player It has a very warm sound to it. You can tweak it by replaceing the tubes with different ones and change the sound.
I was looking at the Mits DLP and there is no way what I have would come close to working. If it was me, I would most likely use a piece of 1/2" MDF cut to a trapazoid shaped like the top view of the TV only a bit wider in the back. The front would be the same width of the TV. Round the edges...
As you can see the pics of my website, I have a very large Center channel. It is 2" MDF in the front and weighs in about 75lbs. It would bow my 65" mits. So I put it infront of the TV on top of the Krell amp. I did not like that at all. It was more foward than the left and right and it made it...
No PLIIx. Is this a bad sign that it is not coming for a while? If it was soon, you think they would have combined this. Unless the 20 cannot take PLIIx.
Tony, glad I could help. Being in CT and working with my dealer alot, I have been able to go to the Salamander Facilities. They are great to deal with. If I have any issues they off replacements right there. Good luck. Brian
The Synergy Line from Salamander has add on Rails: http://www.salamanderdesigns.com/syn...odelbase=sa/rm For that line. Very nice looking. Definatly furniture grade, but expensive.
I think it depneds on how much are you going to spend. If your budget is $1000, then Anthem is out. Even if you budget is $2000, then Anthem is out. Sure you can get a used AVM20 for $1800 now, but you still need amps. Now if you get to the $3000 range, I think the AVM with a nice 7 channel amp...
The picture doe not do the blue justice. Dont forget I also have it set to dim 5 seconds after the last command. It is blue on black background...The flash makes the black seem less black. I sit about 11 feet away from the AVM30, and its is perpendicular to my position. On my AVM20, there was...
Evan, the buttons are in the same place and except for the fact that the logos for the different codecs (DTS, THX etc..) go accross the top instead of jammed in the top right corner. The switching is much faster than my old 20, but as you said that was only a slight annoyance at worst. I do...

Not that it has anything to do with the AVM-30, but I just updated my website with new pics (from a much better camera). I also wanted to give this thread a bump...

Yes, if it switchs almost as fast you press the button then you have the new one. If it takes a second or two and then the you hear the clicks of the inputs changing then you have the old one. Not the best way to tell, but I dont think Anthem has posted at what serial number the chip change too...
The AVM-30 sonically is not different at all. At least from what I can tell so far. I did not have the 20 to compare it to, just my memory. From what I can tell the only differences are: 1) much better display...blue 2) 4 component inputs and two outputs 3) compared to my early AVM20...
The AVM30 does not. I cannot speak for the D1, but I dont think it does. Lévesque, you right on target on the Chris Johnson mod. I will be holding off on it. I am still happy with the AVM30, I just did not have cash for the D1 after blowing most of my money on new speakers.
Well I heard back from Nick...I am running 2.13, but that is for the AVM20. They do NOT run the same code. The display is a different technology so some things do not exist in its menu system. That is why it went funky on my. They shipped me version 1.01 and I will install tonight.
No problem. Once I figure out what the heck is going on with that menu, you are more than welcome to come over...you have to hear the new Von Schweikerts as well. The blue matches my Krell amp as well :) The blue really is a big improvment over the old display. At the NY show, the Anthem...
Well I guess I will start it. I allready posted this on AVS, but we all know where the real home of the AVM-XX is!! I sold my AVM-20 thinking that I would get a D1, but I balked at it. Just too much money and I can mod the 30 later. (after reading the AVM20 vs D1 thread). The Blue is a...
The argument for digital cables making a difference is do they effect timing..that is introduce digital jitter into the signal. I believe that cables for analog signals do make a difference. But I never did for digital signals. Now my EE friend who thinks this is a bunch of BS said wait, yes...
This is what it is going to take to settle this argument. I do believe that right now there really is no good way to measure sound (at least from what I have seen - not that I am an expert). We have freq and level. That is just not good enough. If it was, every speaker would sound the same or...
