My wife and I just purchased a weekend getaway cabin, and I put in a small home theater set up. I won't have dish for a while, and was looking for suggestions for movies with summer, lake, cabin, etc. themes. A few that come to mind are The River Wild, The Great Outdoors, and Funny Farm. Any...
I recently saw Hitchcock's The 39 steps for sale for 1.00 at the Dollar Tree. This came in a cardboard envelope with no case. I didn't have the time to look at the specifics of the disc, and was wondering if any one has any information on the quality of the disc. I'm not sure who released it as...
I have the Runco CL 700 projector, and I LOVE it. I think you will be quite pleased. The room looks great. I would like to have loungers like that at some point.
I love this thread! I almost posted the same thing last night. I watched Standing In The Shadows Of Motown, and was blown away. If you like music, and more importantly Motown, you will love it.
Thanks for the information guys. Is this series aspect ratio 16x9, like Band of Brothers? I thought that Band of Brothers had the best video quality of any television production I've ever seen.
I was wondering what you guys thought of The Sopranos for a blind buy. I'm not a huge mobster genre fan, but I would rate Goodfellas in my top 5 of all time, and I liked the Godfather films. I also thought that the HBO series Band of Brothers and From the Earth to the Moon were first rate. So...
Thanks for the replies guys. I took your advice, and my 5 y/o, and 2 y/o watched Singin' In The Rain, and we LOVED! it. I can't believe how athletic Gene Kelly, and his fellow dance partners were. Amazing, with great tunes. Thanks again. I will get to several on this list.
Wow, thanks for the replies guys. I should have been more specific Derek and stated OAR, as I would miss out on great musicals from the 50's. There were many good suggestions.
I am unfamiliar with many of the old musical classics, as I've never been fond of this genre. However, I have a 5 y/o daughter who is crazy about them. I'm asking for your opinion on DVD's with widescreen transfers, with relatively good transfers and audio that my daughter might enjoy. I think I...
I used a counter similar to this from a Wal-Mart eyeglass counter, which was lighted, and I got it for free to boot. It really looks great, and I painted it a deep midnight blue to match my decor. Look around for places going out of business, remodeling etc.
Great review! I shockingly have not seen this movie (Please don't revoke my membership, or send me hate mail), but I plan to buy it when it streets. I'm just getting into older films, but I loved Lawrence of Arabia, and Citizen Kane. I'm sure I will love this one as well.
David, just had to throw my 2 cents in and agree that you did a wonderful job on your first review. Talk about tough subject material for the first review! I probably would have broke out in a cold sweat when I opened that package.
Pretty interesting guys. I'm doing this primarily so that I can look back in a few years, and see what was going on in my life at the time I made the entries. I not only write about my impressions of the movie, but also what went on during the day, my friends that were over, and my kids...
I'm not sure if this "fits" here, but I was wondering if any of you keep a log of the movies you watch. I decided at the start of the year to keep a diary of the films that I have watched, the dates, people I was with, and my overall impression of the film. I have been doing this since Jan 1st...
Hey Ron, more of the same here. I will miss your indepth reviews. I have bought movies sight unseen after your reviews, two in particular that I wouldn't have given one glance at other wise. I appreciate your nudging to buy Moulin Rouge, and Amelie. Two great films, which me and my family have...
I believe this is a 1.66 to 1 transfer, however, on my 16x9 set, I have a black bar on the left hand side, but not one on the right. None of my other 1.66 aspect ratio films have this problem (black bars are symmetrical on both sides of the screen). Does anyone else have this problem, or do I...
I have seen Prince twice, and they were awesome shows. I also have to give Aerosmith props. As far as those "cheesy 80's Shows" I really enjoyed Styx Paradise Theater tour.
Thanks for the advice. I've been assaulted by the militant ones before. I guess I should have read this better. I would take 6,000 dollars for this unit.
I am interested in selling my Runco DTV 852 projector. This particular projector is about 2 years old, with a new CPU board. It has an internal line doubler, as well as 7 inch CRT's. I would be willing to make a good deal on this unit. If interested, please e-mail me at...
