"Promotional/no artist royalties" is is a standard response I've seen. I guess I could’ve been a little clearer. I know that royalties are paid on discs that are sold and no royalties are paid on true promotional copies (the ones Stamped “Promotional: not for sale.”) BMG discs are...
I've read that the music club sales are considered promotional copies and do not pay royalties to the artists. I don't know if there is any truth to it, maybe someone knows the whole story, but it's a plausible explanation for the prices. Regardless of how they do it, yourmusic...
I've gotta get me some of that stuff. I've always been a big fan of their 85% bars. Another treat for chocolate addicts are Cacao Nibs from ScharffenBerger. They're hard to find. The local Whole Foods store has them periodically. Intense...
Yep, it's going back. I explained the situation and they understood, but I was told it would be nearly impossible to make sure I get the correct one because of the SKU being identical. I have a few more discs coming from J&R tomorrow and from Overstock I'm waiting for Hot Rocks...
It looks ABKCO has complicated things by not changing the UPC's on the new redbook only remasters. J&R sent the redbook only version of Let It Bleed in a jewel case with "DSD Remastered" on the spine. The UPC is 018771900429. Luckily, the rest have been the digipack versions.
Gerry P. Thanks for guide to collecting the ABKCO catalog. It's exactly what I've been looking for. I was about to pull out what's left of my hair figuring out what I've duplicated in my rush order to get 'em before they're gone. Three at $7.99 isn't too awful, although I suppose I...
According to Acoustic Sounds, the ABKCO discs will no longer be manufactured and are officially out of print. I don't know if it's true or not, but judging by their highly inflated prices it's obvious they're waiting for the stock everywhere else in the world to go away. Luckily, J&R...
Paul S. That's a good question. I wouldn't be against switching the 563a out for the new Toshiba Universal depending on the buzz it gets once it's out. I'll have to find some info on it's pre-release specs. I figure it'll only be a week or two until people start getting their 563a's...
Paul S. After 4 it became sort of a personal quest to prove I wasn't crazy. Luckily, Pioneer proved I wasn't, if only in that instance. I have the 2 year BB extended warranty on the thing and might go the route of waiting until I know the new DVD-A playability issues are solved and in...
When the player first came out, I went through seven players that had distortions in the center and sub while listening to 2ch 192khz DVD-A discs through the 5.1 analog outputs with the speakers small and the sub on. I was told that the fix would require a firmware fix and the firmware is...
I've been through six of these babies with the center channel noise, but that's a different story. All of them have done the same thing you mention between tracks. It happens occasionally when switching between tracks with the forward button. I don't recall it happening during normal...
I was under the impression that it was going to be a single inventory hybrid as well, but it's a dual inventory. I stopped into Target and picked it up on the way to work, but was shocked by the lack of the SACD and DSD logos once I got a chance to look at it. I went to BB at lunch and...
From the information on the 2200 on the Denon site and the user manual, it doesn't look like the 2200 will not do time alignment with SACD. It looks like the 5900 will via a DSD to PCM conversion, but I'm not in the position to shell out that kind of green. I've listened to my Pioneer...
Yeah, Gary, that’s correct. It occurs with 24/192 discs with all speakers small and the sub on when listening through the 5.1 analog outputs. The same stuff happens with the center and surrounds turned off in the speaker installation menu. If I recall correctly, it also occurred with the...
Walt N, I really have a feeling this is a widespread problem. I finally got around to exchanging mine for a third player and it also does the same thing. If you PM me your email address I can send you a MP3 sample of a recording of the sub and center out to see if we're getting the...
Paul, Yeah, when you bring up the display while playing the EMG disc it says 24/192. I think the package is wrong. All the same stuff happens with my Hotel California disc also, which is listed as 24/192 on the packaging Craig
I’m sure it’s not my pre-pro because it still happens when it’s out of the chain. I listened to the sub and center outs through a small Mackie mixer with headphones to see what was coming directly from the player. Because of that, this weekend I recorded the sub and center output of the...
This is the last I’m going to post about this because even I’m tired of reading my own posts about it. And if I’ve had enough, I’m sure all of you want to pelt me with rocks. So, I will waste no more of the forum’s server space after this. ;) The distortions and clicking with the 24/192...
Heck, Gary, there's no need to apologize. I was only mentioning it out of curiosity, just in case it was another mystery. Today I made a CD of the problems I'm having with my player with the 24/192 DVD-A discs. I figure actual audio examples will do a better job than me at explaining...
Thanks for taking the time to test Hotel California, Chuck. Hopefully it was at least a good excuse to listen to some good tunes. Maybe a third will do the trick. I hope, I hope, I hope. Many Many Thanks This morning I burned an MP3 disc with a few tracks with decent bass. I...
Walt N, Thanks for checking out the 24/192 discs, I am truly grateful for your willingness to give it a test. Last night I listened to all of Steely Dan - EMG without a hitch. But, then I put in Hotel California and the noises were back with a vengeance. Just to toy with me, it wouldn't...
oscar_merkx, You are in for a treat. I had the honor of seeing him twice in Florida for The Healing Game Tour. I will spend my Sunday in envy, or maybe I'll watch the LD of the Avalon tour in celebration of your good fortune. It's a real shame that none of the concert videos have been...
David Scott, I watched scene 6 from FOTR:EE without skipping or other video problems. I had also watched the whole movie on the first player without incident. DavidJ, I'm sorry I can't be of any help with your Singin' in the Rain problem. It's another DVD on the long list of movies to...
I’m saddened to report that the noises are still present with the digital output turned off. I’ve listened to the two 24/192 discs that I have and the noises are still there with both. I’ve tested each of them with the digital output on and off, as well as with the sub on and off...
David, It stinks that you’re also having the same problems with 2Ch 24/192 DVD-A discs because it might mean it’s a wide spread problem. But, I am a bit relieved by your outside confirmation of the problem. I only had a few minutes this morning before leaving for work to test the...
Many Thanks Walt N, I'm not quite sure how I missed that in the manual, but I'm not too shocked that the Pioneer Customer Service rep knew nothing about it. Switching the digital out off seems to rid the player of the clicking, but the elevated noise level from the center channel is...
It’s been about two weeks now that I’ve had the 563-A and I’m enjoying it all around, except for the one quirk that just won’t go away. I posted about it earlier and thought it had dissappeared, but I was just being hopeful. When playing stereo 24/192 dvd-a tracks through the 5.1 outputs...
Jeff, Thanks for the reply. That's one of the first things I checked. There's nothing I expect from myself more than crazy mistakes ;) Oddly enough, after I posted, I tried both discs again figuring my posting would scare the gremlin away. Which it did. I'll blame it on a ghost in...
I'd been waiting to get into the Hi-Rez scene for quite some time. The talk surrounding the first few rounds of universal players subdued the normal rush to jump on the new formats. For $170, I couldn't help myself. I had planned on a player in the $1000 dollar range, but for now I think...
