Chris: The MCACC on the Pioneer VSX1014 is going to calibrate all the speakers for you, so I would not be hesitant at all using the EC35 for the center. Plus if you buy the E50s, you'll be stuck with a extra speaker. I accidentally reset my VSX-55TXi back to it's defaults when I was...
I accidentally reset my AV receiver and I can now see how on a uncalibrated system you could be concerned about mismatch between the various E series speakers. My EC35 center was really overpowered by my E100 fronts before I realized what I had done. Now after calibrating it again (my Pioneer...
Marco: I've owned a Pioneer DV-59AVi for a little over a month now. I think you'll find this player is everything you have already heard about it! Do you have a Pioneer Elite iLink reciever to use the iLink with? You have multiple options on playing music, I use either the iLink or the...
Jeff: Here's a link with some info on them: http://ohmspeakers.com/store_item_de...ID=39213246060 I see they had a $895 list price when you bought them. You might have the best luck selling them on Ebay. Personally I usually find a friend or family member that can use my equipment...
I have the luxury living in a end unit townhouse with only our garages connecting, so I am able to put my E250P through it's paces. I got mine for $269 from Harmon directly because of a employee purchase plan with them. Considering I had to pay sales tax and shipping, I later got other parts...
Chuck: And after all of that if you think the LX44s dont mesh well you may just want to go to the E90s or E100s for the front mains. Use the older ones for like a basement or bedroom instead. I strongly second getting the EC35 and E250P instead of the smaller models.
Frank: I messaged someone I know at another forum that owns these speakers to come here and reply. From what I have heard him say in the past he is more than thrilled with them. I wish I could have afforded them myself. Instead I have the E series.
David: It all comes down to the specs of the manufacturer. If a company puts in a request for a speaker that is comprised of about $20 worth of materials you get a poor quality speaker. Which is what I assume Dogg Digital does, versus another company that has specs that require far better...
Even if Swan speakers were assembled (and I mean assembled not manufactured) in the same factory as Dogg Digital, it would not bother me personally. In this "global" economy this is quite common and the real issue would be the components used to manufacture them not the physical location...
Just remind the wife of how many clothes that she has bought are in the closet hanging there barely used and how you will be putting the sub to almost daily use! ;)
http://www.paradyme.com/ Paradyme is a local home theatre store in the Sacramento, CA area. They've had through the years many calls for these "Paradyme" speakers directed at them, when they have nothing to do with this "knock off" company.
Yung: The reason I mentioned J&R and B&H was they have retail stores in NYC. From the AVS forum you had your location as Queens. I firgured you could check the JBLs out at the retail outlets. Best Buy is just horrible with their setup. I was lucky I found a package system at my local BB they...
Yung: Since you are local in New York City, you should check out the JBL E series either at J & R Music World or B&H Photo. Both dealers will blow Best Buy's pricing away on the JBLs. I run the E100s as fronts, EC35 for the center, E250P for the sub and E50s for both the side and rear...
Ryan: If you are attaching the sub (on my receiver I have MCACC so I don't worry about settings there) to the subwoofer output on the receiver you set it to LFE on the sub and really not worry about phase. Here's the info from the manual: The Crossover Frequency Control determines the...
There are some upsides to getting rid of the wife.... Here's what my living room looks like now that I am single: http://www.horrortalk.com/Images/HT.jpg You can use that as a worst case example for her, makes your idea look not too bad! ;)
BarOr: When I looked these guys up, I could only find them internationally, not domestically in the US. Where do you live btw? The specs look good on them btw.
Easy answer Mike. It must be hooked up as the surround left and right. The surround backs are only if you have speakers connected to the surround and left and right, in other words, it's for a 7.1 hookup.
I second Nathan's recommendation! I have the JBL E50s as my 4 surrounds (I have a large living room), prior to getting my towers I used them for 5.1 and 2 channel stereo, they are powerful and will really do the job well for you. You can get them for like $275 delivered at www.jr.com
A little unreleated to speakers. When we hired China during the 90's to launch satellites for us they used a launch failure to steal our technology. It helped their guidance system development immeasurably. China has a law that software can not be copy protected, and we wonder why there is...
What's really cool about the JBL E series is that depending on your room, budget, receiver, etc, you can put together a great sounding system. :D I think that they are highly underrated!
Brad: A sign of getting old is when you read that part about the E50s and 5 seconds later when you're posting a response, it's already left the brain cells. WAF..... Thank God I'm single! ;)
Mike: Since you are looking at a 50/50 split between movies and music, you may want to consider bigger towers for the front. E60s, E80s, E90s or the big ones E100s are all available at a great price at those online dealers (free shipping) that Brad just mentioned. If you really want...
Sean: You may want to change the thread title now! ;) LeMarcus: Checked out your HT pics, nice setup! :D Here's some pics of mine, all pioneer and JBL for sound: http://www.horrortalk.com/Images/HT.jpg http://www.horrortalk.com/Images/HT2.jpg...
Sean: I got a DVD called "Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie", I rave about it all the time. I cranked it up during a thunderous H-Bomb blast in the movie (which is in DD 5.1) and every picture or trophy hanging anywhere in the house was cockeyed afterwards. On "Predator" DTS...
