    OAR for Godzilla

The OAR is 1.33:1. However, the old OOP Simitar DVD is matted to 1.85:1, for some odd reason.

    Columbia Tristar: most opposite-of-improved studio

I hope that, if such an award exists anywhere, Columbia-TriStar will win for Most Degraded Studio of 2003 (or at least tie with Universal). Not even Lawrence of Arabia: Superbit can redeem them for what they've done. Besides the aforementioned things, they have also INTENTIONALLY applied...

    Hoppity goes to Town

Well, Gulliver is in the public domain, and none of those DVDs are official. Currently, Artisan has the DVD rights to Gulliver's Travels and Mr. Bug Goes to Town...and they haven't been doing spit with any of Republic's animation holdings. When the rights revert to Paramount (who own...

    Charlie's Angels 2 - Theatrical MAR / Unrated OAR?

This is a somewhat stupid move; they seem to think that the enthusiasts who care about OAR will always buy the unrated version. It is like that in some cases...but not all.

Muppets Magic: From the Ed Sullivan Show-What year are these early Muppet clips from?

This is going to be an R1 disc as well, and is coming from SOFA Entertainment / Goodtimes. (Don't worry, SOFA owns the rights to the show, so it's not a bootleg/public-domain release.)

    Andy Griffith Show

I'm sure Paramount will get around to releasing season sets sometime in the future. If they're doing Lucy and Honeymooners, who's to say they won't do Andy?

    Monster Squad on 10/28

How can PFE own Night of the Comet? Since it's Atlantic/Island, wouldn't MGM own it?

The consolidated, all-in-one DUEL DVD discussion thread

I think we can safely say that this disc has been un-cancelled, for whatever reason...:)

Re-Makes Considered Better Than the Originals?

You know what? I can't think of any remakes of original (non-adaptation) movies that are better than the originals...which just proves my point, that no matter what, if you try to remake an original movie, you'll never match up to the original.

The consolidated, all-in-one DUEL DVD discussion thread

Wow, I didn't know that. This is probably the best explanation, and it makes the most sense. Though this could mean that Weaver could be holding back the release of this disc for quite a while... ...it could be like True Lies: SE, where it won't come to DVD until someone believes it's not in...

The consolidated, all-in-one DUEL DVD discussion thread

Here's my theory: Steven Spielberg is ashamed of this film, and does not want it to be released to DVD. (It could happen...)

Newly released Abyss 2-disc set with different cover art (Phooey on Fox)

Maybe Fox (or even James Cameron) thought the non-anamorphic transfer was up to snuff, and it didn't need an upgrade.

Singin' in the Rain missing frames?

DVD Savant says that they bridged two takes together as seamlessly as possible; that's why it's a jump. (The other theory, which is incorrect AFAIK, is that there was a brief glimpse of Charisse's...well...womanhood, and MGM's censors cut the frames. I don't believe it.)

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends: Complete 1st Season

This is NOT an Artisan release; it's a Sony Music release.

"Oh, What a Lovely War! - Paramount

Well, these musicals, however good anyone may say they are, all bombed in theaters, and the ones released to laserdisc sold poorly. That's why they aren't coming to DVD very quickly, but apparently, Paramount is testing the waters with Scrooge, coming to DVD in time for Christmas. If it does...

Scarface Deluxe Gift Set - 9/30/2003

The reason Scarface's box set costs so much: Universal knows that they can't sell Scarface on DVD alone, because most DVD buyers will skip over it (due to preference for the 1983 version, or not knowing the '32 one even exists), and buy the 1983 version. However, they also know that they...

More proof that Artisan is the worst studio out there

All of this makes me pray for the time when the Republic catalog rights shift to Paramount, the owner of the films (but not the DVD rights...yet; Spelling/Republic wrote up a contract with Artisan just before Viacom bought them out)

    Wonder Woman (2017)

Let me just say this: Whoever plays Wonder Woman doesn't just need a great body and a large (but not inhumanly large), NATURAL rack. She needs to be able to actually act. After all, some of us (myself included) would be going to see it for a GOOD movie, not just to ogle T&A for 2 hours...

Casey's Shadow pan-and-scan only? Say it isnt so, Sony!

I don't know. Sony's track record is plummeting, and we can't do anything about it. I feel sorry for all the people whose favorite movies are getting butchered on DVD by Sony... We can only hope that this is incorrect information.

Me Without You -- P&S! Shame on you Columbia

That's Sony for ya. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Very Muppet Christmas specs. Please remain calm

One thing for sure: Henson is not to blame. The decision to release this in MAR rests with (AFAIK) NBC, who is making the disc. What's even stranger is that, since it was broadcast at 4:3, then this is the "original exhibited aspect ratio."
