Hey guys, Since this place has given me so much ... I'm here to give back :) I built this flexy from the DIY instructions a while ago ... finished in Rustoleum Texture Black (brushed on). It's really functional, and get compliments all the time ... I just don't need it. Sherman Oaks, CA...
While not as much of an old schooler as most here .... I was more the lurker-type back in those days ... learning so much from all you guys. Good to see some old faces again. *group hug*
Where is the pre-order sign up sheet? I am quite interested im making a new set of fronts ... since my roommate blew up my tweeters last weekend and I really didn't like my speakers that much anyway (first speakers I ever 100% designed), so I think it is time for a new set of mains
Gentlemen, I apologize for not posting pictures, but I am having trouble with my host/server thingy. Please email me at [email protected] and I will be happy to send you some pictures. Thanks for understanding. :) Jim
Hey everyone, I have some older (unused) Focal 11P5451 Drivers that I will probably never use so I am selling them. I do not know the TSPs for these drivers and no longer have the capability to measure them. So, selling these babies w/o specs (and I can't find them on any site). I am going...
Hey everyone, I am selling my M-Audio Delta 410 Soundcard. I bought it here from a member last year (I think his name was Esteban). Anyways, I am parting out my desktop to free up some cash. The sound card is in excellent condition and I still have the original packing, documents, and CD...
Hey everyone I am selling the sonotube that I made for my AV12. It is constructed of 16" sontube with dual .75 layers of MDF ... so the endcaps are 1.5" think. It is unfinished, only spray painted black to hide the sonotube under he grill cloth that is now removed. I can supply it with a...
Thanks for the compliment Mike. I used the 4 ports in order to have enough x-sectional area to move enough air for all 4 drivers, while keeping port velocities "low". The problem of using 4 ports is the extreme length of the ports used 4ft ... yeilding pipe organ resonances somewhere above...
The drivers are some random one offs that I had lying around vas ~80L fs ~30Hz qt ~.6 xmax ~18mm one way Believe it or not ... I am presently only feeding them one channel of my NAD 216THX ... they are 4ohm svc drivers wired series parallel... so they are seeing about 50W rms each ...
Hey everyone, Just though I'd share some pix of my new baby :b She's good for pegging the Rat Shack meter anywhere for 20Hz - 35Hz ( at which point 126dB in my room scares me .. or maybe the windows get scared .... either way) It sounds excellent in my opinion ... very similar to my...
I have two "used" PR-15s that I had on my AV12 PR sub for 3 months. These have been in vertical storage for the past 5 months, and I am just trying to clean out the closet. First $70 + shipping takes em. [email protected] Jim Walter
hey please give me a shipping quote for all eight to 47803. where are you located? very interested ... email me @ [email protected] so we can chat more
I'd look into the new RW series of subs, if your retailer carries them. I have heard the 8" and 10" versions and they are excellent performers, very defined, great looking, and reasoanbly priced.
how about a trade for an AV12 plus some change? - I'd really like to get my hands on this for some real measurements to find out what this beast is truly made... and to compare it to the new BeastMkII that you will all be seeing in these coming months get back to me at...
I have an XBOX w/ 2 controllers, Halo, Desert Storm, Dead to Rights, and NBA Live 2K3 - have all reciept, boxes and manuals make me an offer [email protected] take care jim
"Under this scenario I would set my rears to large since a sub would be wired with them. Otherwise if it were a truly stand alone sub using the sub out on my 3803 I see what you are saying. " - you would surely beef up the rears with it, but I don't think you would get that HT rumble you seem...
Your idea of "beefing up" the rears is a nice idea, but if you build this subwoofer and then set the crossovers on the receiver to keep the surrounds as small, the sub will be very good at reproducing what could or should come out of those back speakers. "The sub will have to be placed on...
Hey Andrew, I know what you are searching for. Back at home, I usually listen to Def Tech BP2000s, and their "claimed" 14Hz(i think) is somewhat unrealistic. They really did a good job keeping me satisfied for a while. But...to upgrade, I went with Adire Audio's www.adireaudio.com Tempest...
Thanks Bill, So how many ya ordering ?? :b Profit margin on this is non-existent. Like dB said, he designed this a WHILE ago...his once famed Aura killer is finally availible to us at a heck of a deal. Adios, jim - only one more final to go!!!!!
"It has plenty of power handling and great sensitivity, but how does it sound when it's playing loud?" All in the box and the quality of power supplied...if those are done right ... this beast won't do you wrong. "If it can feed off a bridged K2 with minimal distortion, I think this driver...
Chris, The coils for now are quad 2 ohm. We shall see on the final variant. Yeah, this is desgned for home use, but I am pretty sure that 21.5 x 21.5 x 16" external cube ='s 3.18 gross internal cubes with double'd front and back walls. Doubled side walls, would make that - 2.72 cu ft...
Hey dudes, Been out of town a lil bit ... I will try to catch up here :) Final T/S are not in and still in the air...I believe I have the posted goals. Yeah modeling it is fun...believe me I have 100s of graphs seeing what the different variants are gonna do. But let's face it ...
Oh yes ... ownership is this bad boy's middle name. Passive are the way dB and I are going...in fact...you may soon see one of this in a nice quad 18" box ... with enough Vd (25L+) to prolly break some walls. check out http://jdb3.com/ra/ for the photos :) later jim
Hey Seth, Don't mean to be stupid or rude ... but I don't want to have another Tumult pi**ing match here. This thread is here to offer everyone a new driver and answer any technical questions that some may have. On that note... im off to lab :frowning: later dudes, jim
