Is this the Michael Caine/Shirley MacLaine "Gambit" from the mid-Sixties??? If so, I think the rights are held by Universal. Seems to me like it would fit nicely in a collection with "Arabesque" (Gregory Peck, Sophia Loren) and "Mirage" (Gregory Peck, Diane Baker, Walter Matthau). Maybe they...
Not sure if all of these were released theatrically in the U.S., but here's a few more: The Keep (1983) The Fourth Protocol (1987) Crusoe (1988) Getting It Right (1989) Paperhouse (1989) Queen of Hearts (1989) Hear My Song (1991) Late for Dinner (1991) Homicide (David Mamet - 1991)...
Gordon, Thanks for the correction on "Electra Glide in Blue". I was under the mistaken impression that it was released non-anamorphic. I'll be off to my favorite local store to pick it up tomorrow!
Some of these have been mentioned in earlier posts, but here's my list... all non-anamorphic or pan and scan, I believe (except for The Apartment and Rob Roy, which are just plain bad): Kiss Me Deadly Moby Dick 12 Angry Men Witness for the Prosecution The Defiant Ones The Hound of the...
How about some WWII thrillers like Operation Crossbow, Berlin Express, Nazi Agent, and The Mysterious Doctor? Also, does Warner have the rights to Powell & Pressburger's One of Our Aircraft is Missing?
Glad to see another Karloff title, but how about some more Hammer? So far, all we've seen from Sony are Revenge of Frankenstein and Die Die My Darling. I was really hoping for... Scream of Fear The Damned Curse of the Mummy's Tomb The Gorgon and although not a Hammer title... A...
Here's the same announcement from DVD Drive-In which reads somewhat differently: Fox Home Entertainment has just announced its slate of Halloween DVDs, and it’s a mixed bag to say the least, so don’t shoot the messenger! September 9 will see the release of THE CABINET OF CALIGARI (the 1962...
Count me in! A good many of the early Criterions were non-anamorphic (as they were with some of the studios), but lately I think there have been some re-releases ("Charade" comes to mind) with the 16x9 enhancement...and I remember reading someone from Criterion being quoted as saying they would...
I'd like to see... 50's Sci-Fi collection with: This Island Earth Tarantula Incredible Shrinking Man Monolith Monsters Deadly Mantis Mole People Hammer collection with: Brides of Dracula Curse of the Werewolf Phantom of the Opera Captain Clegg (aka Night Creatures)...
I'm no expert on this, but I believe that before Disney was distributor/owner of Miramax films, they were distributed by Paramount. I've been hoping for a release of Enchanted April as well, and I believe Hear My Song (with Ned Beatty) may be in the same situation.
For the curious, here are the final voting results from the TCM website: THE LETTER (1940) 12953 KING SOLOMON'S MINES (1950) 11268 ICE STATION ZEBRA 10372 IVANHOE 10333 RANDOM HARVEST 9648 TEST PILOT 8854 LUST FOR LIFE 8818 I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG 8636 GREED 8082...
High Anxiety Silver Streak The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother Move Over, Darling Only the Lonely Unfaithfully Yours (1948) plus anamorphic releases of: Big French Kiss Full Monty Waking Ned Devine Raising Arizona Young Frankenstein
Does anyone know if the 1950 version of King Solomon's Mines is owned by Warner or MGM? or someone else? This is the one with Stewart Granger and Deborah Kerr. I'd love to see it come to DVD, but I'm not sure if I'm barking up the wrong tree.
Does anyone know for certain who has the DVD rights to Foreign Correspondent ?...definitely one of my favorite Hitchcock's. I'm fairly sure it was released by Warner on VHS.
