Sony DVP-NS9100ES for sale. Brand new and factory sealed. Color-silver. Price - $475.00. Original msrp for this unit was $1,299.00. As I'm sure you already know in addition to being Sony's top of the line flagship DVD player this unit is also a fantastic SACD player. DVD upconversion...
Here is a shootout between the two. Best 1080p Home Theater Projectors - Epson Home Cinema 1080 UB and Sony VPL-VW40
You have to move up to the VW60 to get built in support for anamorphic but you would still need to buy a third party lens.
It's really sad that the marketing for upconverting players has confused the general public to such an extent. This is likely to be the reason Blu-Ray never becomes mainstream.
Does this really work for upconversion of SD DVD? I know you can feed a 1080i Blu-Ray signal this way but I was under the impression that you could not upconvert SD DVD unless both the source and display were HDMI.
Sorry that happened to you. I'd be upset too but like Rich said your Onkyo product, not Sony, likely caused this to happen. It's been a known problem for quite a while now.
^^^Those screen shots do look great. All of those are from 1080p disks? I can't find a theater store with a properly setup projector viewing room for me to see in person. I'd essentially be making a blind buy which makes me a little nervous.
I'm kinda on the fence at the moment. One half of me knows I would love the large fixed screen and the other half thinks I'd be happier with the cyrstal clear image of the DLP RPTV.
Thanks for the reply George! The odd mounting location was a concern so it's good to know it shouldn't be a problem. I have been eyeing the Epson 1080 UB. Seems to be a great projector for the price. Also looking at Carada's 96" 2.35:1 screen. It would be used exclusively for movies so I thought...
I'm considering upgrading my 'old' 56" non-HDMI 1080i/720p RPTV with a 1080p front projector but have some concerns with my room dimensions namely low ceiling height. Here is a sketch of my room drawn to scale (click thumb nail for a larger view). Before I get too deep in research I...
John - Theater and lobby look fantastic. How do you like the Epson Pro Cinema 1080 UB projector? I'm looking to upgrade my old 56" RPTV with either a front projector or something like the Mitsubishi 73" DLP RP.
Did anyone catch this? When Mary and John were fighting in the street and people were running for cover there was someone or something running with them that appeared to be 10-12 foot tall, slim build, and was hunched over as it/he/she ran for cover. What the hell was that? The only thing I...
In my opinion, cheaper software is the key to success. I think most people are willing to swallow a one time higher price for the hardware but, like myself, do not want ot shell out 25-35 dollars for new releases each week.
The upcoming Sony BDP-S550 and Panasonic DMP-BD50 will both have onboard decoders and 7.1 analog output that should work nicely with an "older" receiver.
