Why 12" drivers can't be musical in the 40-80hz?

yes, like I said before, I don't think the nOhrs should really even be called subwoofers. They appear to be a woofer box designed to basically turn their bookshelf sized speakers in to full range towers. For that function, they work quite well. But if we are talking about what a subwoofer is...

Why 12" drivers can't be musical in the 40-80hz?

Hmm, I think I am probably just not able to write clearly enough to convey my point? I will give it one more try, but use examples that are very extreme to illustrate my point. Let us invent a mythical driver for the sake of illustration. Let us say that we have a 15inch woofer that is able...

Why 12" drivers can't be musical in the 40-80hz?

Just wanted to make a quick clarification to my point about X-max and IM distortion - you are quite correct that the 12 incher will be moving a lot less to produce an 80hz tone than the 8 incher. But, throw in the probability that the 12 incher is quite possibly moving quite a bit to produce a...

Dual Tempest & LspCad - can this be right?

Thanks a bunch for the reply Dan - I am helping a friend put this project together - he wanted the ultimate bass possible for under $1k & I told him the Tempest was it! So, regarding port length, when I run the 17 hz tune for a 750 liter box, it tells me that port length should be 10cm? That...

Dual Tempest & LspCad - can this be right?

I input all the #'s for box size, fill, resonant frequency, etc. . . then I hit the optimize option to find out what port size & lenght I need to get a tune of 19hz out of my 750liter box with 2 front firing tempest drivers. It tells me that I need a port that is 2.9 centimeters long & 8.9 cm...

Could someone send me a copy of LspCAD?

You need some tubes! Check around, see if you can find a used Cal Alpha - you won't be sorry, and you can easily change the sound to your own liking by swapping out tubes. Also, check out the Ah! Tjoeb CD player - it naturally has a more relaxed treble presentation & could be a perfect match...

Could someone send me a copy of LspCAD?

Thanks PJ, got it working now - I am modeling a sub for a friend & this will help a lot (2 tempests in a ported enclosure about 700 liters - WinIsd models it flat all the way to its -3bd point of 17hz with an output of 115db over the subs BW - not bad, eh?)
