Super 2-channel amp. I used it in bridged mode to drive my Tempest 15" subwoofer in an Adire alignment box. That home theater was long since sacrificed to the divorce gods, but I made it out with the amp. It's in perfect working order and 90+% cosmetic IMHO. Pic below. Original manual...

    DIY low freq absorber

Let me add something here.... Although insulating the device from the surrounding area rather than eliminating the source of the noise MAY eliminate the noise, you may ALSO be creating a problem for yourself... Insulation, draping and otherwise isolating the machine from the rest of the room...

Yep, Sorbothane will melt... especially the softer stuff... But I have never had any problems with it... I don't let anything in my systems get that hot. :)

    DIY low freq absorber

One word... Sorbothane. If your noise probs are truly in the low freqs like you say in the first post, I'd use sorbothane to isolate your fans and your hard drives from the metal case... You can even do it to the power supply fan if you are VERY careful... Note: do NOT open the power supply...

Finished my Media Cabinet et al. updates...

It's taken me a long time to get back in HT mode, but I finally finished my Media Cabinet. While I was documenting it for my website, I put together an update page for my "home theater" overall... Check them out and let me know what you think... Media Cabinet The Autery's Home...

    Canare DIY component cable help

Hey John... There are several different designs of the ferrules... Some have one ring, some two, some none... It doesn't really matter, BUT I usually put the rings on the cable side... Usually, this gives you a pretty good guide of where the edge of the die should strike...

Are expensive rabbit ears worth it?

If you are willing to pay $40.00, you should seriously consider a REAL antenna... :) As said before... describe your reception problem in as much detail as possible... Also tell us what your environmental situation is.... House? Size? Surrounding terrain? Orientation of TV xmitters from your...

    VCR Won't Record..Connection Question

Not sure about the 3801 but the AVR-4800 has a couple of options for you... 1st... You can record the current source... 2nd... You can record a SECOND source IF a couple of things are done... You have to set the REC OUT source to the source you want to record, AND you obviously can't record...

    Issue 3?

JasonKZ - I DID receive another response from Mr. Carroll. He stated that he responded to me privately because he was on vacation and did not have access to his IDs/passwords, et al... (I suppose in response to my suggestion to use his own account rather than Mr. Walker's?). In any event, Mr...

    Issue 3?

Mr. Carroll: First, I want to thank you for the relatively timely response... However, I would like to encourage you to create your own personal account here at HTF with YOUR NAME on it. For a moment, I began to think that Mr. Walker had a split personality, since your respective responses...

    Issue 3?

I've not received mine either... I came to check this forum specifically because I expected to see it in my mail box before now... At this point, I think that a comment/explanation from the publisher is in order... I cannot conceive of an acceptable explanation for why paid subscribers...

    Good FM antenna?

Oren, I suspect that touching the antenna does one of two things... a) You increase the loop size and hence change the tuning of the dipole to a different fequency, or b) You change it from a zero gain dipole to a "different type" of antenna with some directional properties (gain) and...

    subwoofer cables vs. video cables

Mark... Who knows... probably doesn't make a bit of difference... But given the choice between the two, I'd rather have my Canare cables... Larger center conductor has lower resistance than smaler conductor... yeah, this is likely of negligible impact in this instance... who knows... The...

    subwoofer cables vs. video cables

Short of adding circuitry to the cable, there is essentially NOTHING you can do to a piece of wire to change its "time alignment". :) Time alignment... you gotta love the folks that make up these terms.... ;) I own a Monster Interlink 201 SW HT "THX Certified Precision Wound Balanced Subwoofer...

    Quiet fan for component cooling

Mmmm... I'd like to check these fans out myself... BTW... It's generaly not the best idea to undervolt a fan... It can cause the fan to fail early and it also delivers less than the designed amount of air to the component... A better approach is to isolate the fan from the mount and...

    Heat Shrink for Canare LV-77

The stuff at Markertek SHOULD be TechFlex... The "regular" TechFlex should be cut with a hot knife to keep it from fraying.... Otherwise, yes... hit the ends with a lighter/torch to stop the fraying... 1/4" TechFlex should EASILY cover a single run of LV-77... It should go up to at least...

    Newbie contact cement question

On my 24" x 24" flexi shelves I used a 1.5" oil-based finish brush... I bought three of them just in case... I was using WilsonArt H20... If you are using the volatile stuff, this won't help... The H2O dries a bit slower, which is good with a brush... It took 2 coats on MDF face surfaces...

    Grrrr.... I hate fans.... and...

Cute Kevin... :p) I'd never had a component with a fan before... at least one that made noise... Then I got the Dish 6000 and Crown CE-1000 put in the system on the same day.... Never realized that it would bother me that much... I suspect that Greg_R is probably right, that the hum is from...

Eliminate fan noise on Dish 6000 w/ 8 VSB module installed...

If you have one, you KNOW what I mean! ;) The little Sunon fan in the 8VSB module is LOUD... I couldn't take the high pitched whine anynore, so I decided to disassemble the case and pull the module to see what could be done... I didn't want to insert a resistor to slow the fan, cause hey...
