Hey all. It's been a long long time since I've checked in here. In case you don't recognize my name, I had my 15 minutes of fame in the DVD community as the guy that started the Willy Wonka petition, probably also inspiring a slew of other petitions. Decided to check in on my HTF friends and...
Nice job on the site. I'm sure it will serve its purpose well. The design is great, quite professional. I'm in the middle of (trying to) design exhibition pages for my photography and I'm finding it difficult to maintain the professional look I'm after.
Great work.
Look at the X10 Firecracker system for your remote lighting needs.

You can get better deals on the starter sets if you check the website often. (They are on sale a lot for $20 or so.) My friend has a set, and has all the lights in his house...
With my suggestion above of trying the Headwize forums, I'll also throw in my headphone opinion.
The Sony MDR-V6 are probably the best closed headphones for under $100. (They are about $60 shipped from etronics.com.) Isolation is tremendous, and the bass curve seems to extend down forever...
I bought a component rack from Ikea for about $90. A picture of it is here:

It is the the one in the upper left corner, marked #1. It weighs a ton (so it will minimize vibrations), and looks quite sharp with all my components' red power lights through the smoked front glass...
I recently (last week) bought the Home Theater Master MX-500 for $125 shipped, which you can read about at remotecentral.com. I wanted one with a screen so I could customize my button labels, but also with hard buttons, because I don't want to have to look at the remote every time I want to...
Hello,
Although the petition gained a fair amount more signatures after I printed and sent it out to WHV, the version that WHV receieved contained 10,686 signatures and was 300-some pages. (I don't recall exactly how many pages.)
The petition was mentioned in a trade publication, Video...
Bah, both of them take the notion of continuity editing and throw it out the window. They are all about getting the most action in the shortest amount of time, without any concern for establishing a thread which the audience can follow during the action.
It's passive watching at its best, no...
David Gray, Live At The Point is an excellent purchase, both as a DVD and as a concert. The DVD features a good documentary called Up To A Point, which follows David Gray around for a few days before the concert. The concert itself is excellent, and captures the feeling at one of his shows...
I was also very disappointed with the documentary.. Wes Anderson's brother came off as annoying to me.. I don't remember what exactly it was that bugged me, but it seemed very unprofessional to me.
Region 2 "La Fille Sur Le Pont" comes in a clear case. Don't even want to know what that implies...
Although it is really cool, because the chapter list is printed on the backside of the cover insert, so it shows through when you open the case.
I have heard that the existing DVDs are pretty terrible, with very little care taken during both audio and video transfer.
Although I have not seen them myself, it's reported that the studio lost almost all music rights, and the songs in the episodes were replaced with far less effective...
Mine is preordered (never even preordered the FS version).
I emailed Josh at WHV and asked if he might be able to provide me with an advance copy for review, but he said he wasn't going to get any in. Too bad, I was hoping I had made a few friends at WB with my petition.
Thanks again...
Yay to see this list bumped up.
I'll also take this time to mention again that I ripped the DVD, cut it up, reassembled in the correct order, and burned onto two VCDs. It took a while but is very much worth it if anybody else wants to make the effort.
I had a lot of free time this afternoon, so I decided to rip the Memento DVD, chop up the mpeg file, and reassemble in chronological order. Very big thanks to Jeff Cooper for providing cut times.
It's really neat to watch in order, without having to input times with your remote or anything...
Hello all,
Sorry I haven't been keeping up here at HTF.. like David Lambert said, I am a bit busy dealing with some things here (not in school just yet, UW doesn't start until Oct 1!), but I did just get a cable modem installed so it'll be easier to browse more forums. Been monitoring cnn.com...
I talked to Josh at WHV today, and he said that he doesn't know yet whether Cats & Dogs and also Lord Of The Rings will be in widescreen. He said that he's hoping to find out by the end of this week. I will try getting in touch with him again then.
Hello!
I'm not home yet, but I found some computers to check my email and the latest DVD news..
Glad I saw David Lambert's post about calling Josh.. I will certainly do so.
I'm not sure if this has been confirmed yet, but I just got an email from WB, and Wonka will be anamorphic. No word...
Well, after an evening and night of speculating whether you all would forever brand me as a joker or the originator of a cruel hoax, I'm glad to see that the widescreen version is a success (and hopefully will do well in sales!). I'm off now for a weekend at The Gorge to see Dave Matthews Band...
Please do NOT email Josh Sabarra. I mistakenly posted his email address here when we were trying to figure out if it was a hoax, and he requested this morning that his email address not be distriburted.
Thank you
I just spoke to Josh Sabarra, and he confirmed that this widescreen version is truly coming out on November 13.
He didn't know how the rumors that he said he iddn't know about the press release got started. Basically, he confirmed that it was being released, and he also said that he didn't...
Good morning.
I have been trying to call Josh Sabarra at WHV, but he isn't in the office yet this morning. I will keep trying.
However, I did call Jennifer Tom from Edelman Entertainment Marketing. For those of you who look in the press release Word document properties, you'll see that the...
I will update again tomorrow morning, after I try to call Josh again. Peter Bracke, of DVDFile, just emailed me and told me that it WAS Josh who he talked to earlier today, and that he haddn't a clue about the whole situation. I have yet to actually talk to him, as he and I have only heard...
