I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet (and I don't want to take the time to search all the previous posts) but an interesting looking film called WHEN BOYS FLY is due out on DVD on October 29. Here's one of the few reviews I could find:

It's a fun challenge to see if I can salvage something watchable. I enjoy it, and if the results are good enough then I show my version to friends. Most gay themed movies that come in pretty boxes are near total garbage. There's nothing salvageable in them. A few films have a worthwhile...
Mark, the package of LOVE REINVENTED certainly looks nice and I'd like to know more, too. I've been burned way too many times by packaging, only to find unwatchable garbage inside.
Re: The FLUFFER. Here's another film I just did my own edit on, but there was only so much I could do here...
You'll find a lot of information about WATER BOYS, plus a Variety review, at this site:

It does seem to have at least some gay plot - perhaps more than just "some," it's hard to tell. Plus of course cute guys in Speedos.
I find myself rolling my eyes a lot. It doesn't help that the show comes on after the superb Six Feet Under. We can't help but compare. Not only has the novelty of QAF worn off, it's just a crappy show. Last week's episode was the last straw for me. Yuck.
What bothers me most about QAF...
Mark, correct me if I'm wrong, but as I recall Strand was only repressing I THINK I DO to resolve the defective chapter problem (when watching the movie and the disc came upon chapter 3, I think it was, the main menu popped up again). I don't think they were going to repress a new print of the...
DavidF, I agree with your comments about the show nearly 100%.
A bit of QAF trivia: Eric, the "cute boy" virgin in Episode 8, was played by an actor named Jonathan Payne. When the producers of QAF were first casting the roles, Payne was their second choice to play the role of Justin, if...
I have recorded roughly 300 DVD-R since I bought my Panasonic units four months ago, and I haven't had a problem recording a single one (knock wood!). I only use name-brand Pioneer, Sony or Verbatim. I haven't tried any of the $2.95 cheapies.
I see your point, Trace. Maybe it wouldn't bug me if such things were better executed or explained. Film-makers can get away with just about anything as long as they do it right. I'm eager and willing to suspend my disbelief and give the show the benefit of the doubt. But if Brian and...
I really wish there weren't such gaping holes in logic in this show. I.E., in the first episode of this season are we really to believe that a judge could get stuck to a toilet seat for 14 HOURS? Didn't anyone else use that bathroom in that time....nor any janitor come in to clean...nothing...
Mark, thanks for recommending BOYS TO MEN, the collection of 4 short films. It's worth the price for the first one, CRUSH, alone. What a sweet, charming film! I really fell in love with it. The second short film is pretty good, also, while the remaining two fall into the watch-once category...
Here's a reply I just got from STRAND RELEASING concerning the defective DVD of I THINK I DO (at the first chapter stop, 13 minutes in, the menu comes back on screen):
>>>Alan,
We are sorry about the problems you are having with "I Think I Do" DVD.
Currently, we are pressing a corrected...
The show continues to be what they call a guilty pleasure, I guess. I certainly agree with most of the criticism of the show but enjoy it a lot anyway. Go figure.
While not specifically related to QAF, it appears that TVGuide.com is reporting that MTV and Showtime are currently in "serious...
I just discovered a flaw on Strand's I THINK I DO DVD. When the film reaches the first chapter stop, 13 minutes into the film, up pops the main menu. You can get beyond this point by pressing "play movie" again and then skipping to chapter two. The rest of the film plays without a hitch...
The original UK series, which I admit is vastly superior, was also a lightning rod for some very harsh criticism from those in the gay community who didn't want certain aspects of gay life portrayed. I enjoy the Showtime series on its level. It's far from perfect but also a lot of fun.
This...
It's great that several of us are sending notes to Strand Releasing about the lack of quality on their DVDs. About 2 or 3 weeks ago I wrote a similar message to Strand, Mark, and I got back a personal reply from a (the?) vice president there, from an AOL address, saying he appreciated knowing...
Hi Mark Walker - I just read your post from December 4. I'm still here, about every 2 or 3 weeks or so anyway. You are correct in assuming I'm not the Alan Light who is editor of Spin Magazine. The other guy has been around for quite a while. I first noticed his name on bylines in Rolling...
Rich, as I said in my earlier post I've become very fond of Gypsy Boys. I think Brian Shepp and yourself and everyone associated with the film has the right to feel proud of it, especially considering the non-existent budget and basically volunteer cast and crew. It was obviously a labor of...
RE: 101 Rent Boys
This was shown on Cinemax a while back and I have it on tape. I am not going to buy the DVD, though I would have if I didn't tape it off Cinemax. It's worth seeing once. It is sort of titillating at the time you view it, but I guarantee will leave you haunted and thinking...
Re: Wolves of Kromer
Totally, utterly, completely unwatchable. Slow as molasses and it goes absolutely no where with nothing to say. A piece of junk wrapped in a pretty package, like so many are. A real disappointment.
Re: Gypsy Boys
When I first watched it I thought it was quite amateurish and a little odd, but as I kept watching (and I almost didn't) I realized there was a very, very good little film trapped inside a longer one, so once again - as I did with The Journey of Jared Price and Just One Time - I...
OK, let me make this connection to DVD somehow so it's an appropriate post....um...well, if you can get this new Canadian channel Pridevision, starting this Thursday 9/7, you won't have to buy as many gay themed films on DVD because they'll be showing a ton of them. And they'll be showing ones...
It appears that Showtime's Queer As Folk will be coming on on DVD in January, 2002. Information is sketchy but can be found by going to this site and clicking on the "QAF NEWS" box 2nd down on left side of screen: Link Removed
I received a telephone call (!) yesterday from tlavideo about my pre-order of I THINK I DO. The guy said that the release date has been pushed back to October.
A mixture of praise and criticism in the Washington Post article below, appearing today (Saturday June 9) entitled "Queer As Folk: A Firecracker of a Season Finale"

You're right, Mark. That's exactly how they looked when I finally saw them. I tossed them in the trash. I certainly hope there is an official DVD release some day. I think the only drawback may be the number of episodes. If the Sex And The City Season 2 set was $50 (for 18 24-minute...
Screening copies of the final episode #22 have been sent to a few very select TV critics. My source tells me the episode is "...dynamite. One of the best. Almost NO scenes at Babylon -- which means less flesh, less flash, and more drama."
I kind of like flesh and flash myself! But I'll take my...
