I think it's a myth that Win98 can only use 512MB but doing the following may be helpful. Run SYSEDIT In the SYSTEM.INI file add the following line to the 386 ENH section: ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1 Win98 will now wait untill the RAM is %80 full instead of the default %40 to begin using...

    DVD rom?s

Any one of the drives should do the job. I have a Pioneer slot drive that I've never had any problems with. You will have to use a software decoder if your video card does not have a hardware DVD decoder to watch movies, or you can get a Hollywood Plus decoder. ------------------ "There's no...

Help: Windows 98, System Resources Drops Quick

When using Win98 with more than 64 MB of RAM you must add this line to the [386ENH] section of your SYSTEM.INI file: ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1 Windows will now only hit the Swapfile when RAM is 80% full instead of at 40%.

    Coaxial or Optical Differences

I'm no expert but I think you are better off using a good coax cable. The main concern, I think, is if the optical connector is glass or plastic.
