What Justified does better than any other show I can think of is fully utilize a wide variety of villains and have them play off each other. Great to have Limehouse back. Only realized today (checking IMDB) that he was Nic Cage's buddy in Con Air. Honestly, I haven't enjoyed this season quite as...
My first reaction to this news: Jar-Jar Abrams = final nail in the coffin. Maybe (hopefully) I'll be pleasantly surprised but, if VII turns out to be anything like his Trek movie, I'm going to hate it. :( edit: boo, what a downer for a 2,000th post! So I'll turn my frown upside-down. I enjoyed...
I enjoyed the pilot. Highly derivative, of course; it's Silence of the Copycats - but that didn't make it bad. I always have time for Bacon and Purefoy, and Kevin Williamson is a very good writer imho. I'm probably sticking with this show till the end. :)
She is by far my least favourite guest star on the show. That whole episode was an absolute chore to sit through - and all the French "comedy" plain embarrassing. The Good Wife, while I still watch it, is not nearly as good as it used to be. Which is a real shame. :(
Uh-oh, now I've read that spoiler and gone searching for the interview! http://www.vulture.com/2013/01/justified-boss-graham-yost-sets-up-season-four.html ^^ Contains other spoilers, including one which put a big smile on my face (to do with the fate of an old character):
Surely the Big Bad is the Snake-man - and that rivalry with Boyd is going to form the backbone of the season? As for the cold case mystery: I presume Raylan's mum (step-mum?) kept hold of those drugs that fortuitously fell from the sky, and whoever they belonged to went looking and is probably...
Cary's dad is Lex Luthor - now it all makes sense! :D Nice to see John Shea again.
Really good guest cast this week in addition to Shea: F Murray Abraham, Amanda Peet & Christina Ricci too. Then, Zach Grenier steals the show at the end as the super-smug David Lee.
In a perfect world, this show...
I'm guessing the writers don't have young kids - or they think the main Dexter audience doesn't! It's like a recent ep of Boardwalk Empire, when the baby was crying in its cot. The "mother" goes over to it and says "shush" and the baby immediately goes back to sleep. If only that worked irl. ;)
Anyone else watch Dr No today? I did. Not my favourite of the Bonds but a gorgeous picture on blu-ray. I finally noticed the glass under the tarantula! I remember the VHS & DVD pq was always so brown, so gloomy, so dirty before.
I had two Live and Let Dies and no SWLM. :f
The discs were badly inserted, sideways, so the titles weren't all visible. I only just noticed. Contacting Amazon now. What a pain! :(
Well, I didn't enjoy season two as much as season one. This is most probably because I read the book first this time and the element of suspense was gone. The episodes seemed very disjointed and "bitty". Too much material to cram in? All of the episodes should have been 10 mins longer, at...
To clear things up:
Sansa chose to stay: she didn't go with the Hound.
Tyrion is hated by his family. His father, Tywin, was always the Hand; Tyrion was only named the acting-Hand to keep Cersei and Joffrey in check while Tywin was not in King's Landing.
Roz was only Cersei's captive while...
Well, I am looking forward to buying this... if there's a Region Free/B version. ;) I got into Blu-Ray late and the only Blade Runner that seems available to me here in Europe is the 'Final' cut. I personally prefer the 1992 cut and that's the one I want to see in HD. :)
Excellent season. What the finale was "missing" was a proper stand-off between all the various villains. We just had Quarles+Limehouse, who both survived.
Can Quarles' arm get reattached? I expect so. Let's have him back next year or the one after, unless he wants to kill some doctor's...
:D
On the first point, I imagine that Shane didn't fancy the prospect of walking through a zombie-wood at night on his lonesome. As for the second, yes, the writers did set that one up reasonably well, earlier in the episode when Shane chats to Lori and she thanks him. All of a sudden, he...
I have to agree with Rick and Jeffery.
Good grief, that was bad! It was a live-action cartoon - but not as smart as most cartoons. I could barely watch it. The suspense was... Well, where was it? Humbug!
Moffat is good at coming up with dinky ideas but I get the feeling he just can't knit...
This is superb news. For those interested, there are clips from the rediscovered eps circulating. I wish they'd been from better adventures but still, either one of these episodes is worth more to me than a dozen NuWhos. :)
I thought Clint Eastwood invented (and perfected) it. :)
I'm enjoying this series, but some of the whiny women need to get eaten soon! ;) Am tempted to read the comic... Just a couple'a Amazon clicks away...
Kevin, that's a long answer! :D
Of New Who, Blink. I remember enjoying Dalek, School Reunion, The Girl in the Fireplace, Human Nature/The Family of Blood & Let's Kill Hitler. I've never rewatched any New Who so it would be interesting to see if my opinions have changed.
Of Classic Who, this is...
I've not enjoyed much of this series but neither do I yearn for the bad old days of RTD. Both producers brought good and bad things to Who, imho. What irks me about New Who is the reverential "everyone loves the Doctor" crap. If it's not someone else telling us then it's someone reminding the...
When I shot my first short film, on location in a forest, I made an effort to record sounds for footsteps. When mixed back in, however, they sounded like someone eating popcorn - well, anything but footsteps! Are there times when you have to resort to a "fake" sound effect because it sounds more...
And here are the winners - chosen by me! :P let's see if the Emmy voters agree... :D (and for some categories I know too few shows to comment so I'll leave 'em out) Comedy Series Modern Family Drama Series Game of Thrones Lead Actor in a Comedy Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory Lead Actor in a...
