Great review! I bought the disc because I loved this movie back when it first came out. I watched it with my wife last weekend and it does hold up. Excellent performances all around.
Yep I had read an interview after I had seen it twice where he didn’t like the play and I had the thought he might not the first time I saw it. However I am still glad I saw it as I enjoyed seeing a lot of the things I had read about play out on stage. Was also nice that my daughter and I got...
@Tino - Any new stories or tid bits that were new for you? There's been so much written about Jaws I am always on the hunt to learn something I haven't heard about before. Thx
Ouch 90$ if buying from
Zavi has it for $90. Ouch. Even $80 seems like a lot. I like the film and the video extras but I am not sure I need an $80 version.
I agree the Doctor Sleep is a good film. I enjoyed the throwbacks to The Shining. The death of the child was particularly disturbing. As for The Exorcist sequal(s) I think it is going to be next to impossible to come up with something compelling after the original, the latest sequel and all...
On the 2nd season Australian BluRay of Columbo the episode "Etude in Black" is available in a 70 minute cut that has the MM opening on it. I kept that version from my old rips when I replaced what I had from the new Kino set I just bought.
The headline say it has canceled an update to the headset but in the article it says "may cancel" so I am still in the wait and see camp. I always thought that they would sell about 500K which seems to be where things are ending up. On a recent MacBreak Weekly there's was a good discussion...
One thing I noticed is that on the shorter Etude in Black the episode does not have Mystery Movie opening like it does on the second season Blu-ray set I imported from Australia. Too bad Kino didn’t do it the same way.
"Then there was the annoying flyaway hair that suddenly appeared on Paltrow’s face during that intimate diner scene with Freeman. “You couldn’t even see in the film version that it cuts right through Gwyneth’s eye,” Fincher said. “And I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in 1080p. But in 4K you can...
I miss the artwork on Albums just as I do on LaserDiscs. It was neat to pull out the Album put it on, read the linear notes, display the cover etc. However I would never want to go back to the hiss and pops introduced by the medium itself.

I use MultEQ-X on my Marantz Sr-8015. The ability to label and retake measurements as well as exclude measurements and easily try out settings changes is a game changer. It took me some time to learn but with it I was able to get my system to perform in ways the built in Audyssey never could...
I just compared Dead Weight on the Kino Set to the same episode the Australian Madman Release of Season 1. The Kino Set is using DTS for the soundtrack and the Madman release is using LPCM Stereo. It is the case that the level of dialog on the Kino release during the boat trial scene is lower...
My set just showed up. Very nice packaging and the artwork on the outside box is nice. I do recall that Falk was a drawer and had a number of drawings on his website. One was a really nice drawing he did of himself as Columbo. That would have made for interesting box art.
I suspect they will try and release base and pro chips at the same time so the don’t have a situation (again) where the base Mx is faster than Mx-1 but the Mx-1 Pro (& Max) is faster than the Mx. current gen.
