Rick, I guess that my (and others') issue is that the electrons are traveling to the speaker at near lightspeed (literally.) I don't see that a few feet could possibly be heard; you'd need to be off by miles to hear a millisecond difference.
Add me to the list of the unimpressed. I felt that the movie lacked true depth--the really interesting climactical section came far too early IMO. I think Howard kept building toward it (no spoiler,) continuing to mention that he cut scenes to keep the flow headed there. Once you got there...
Run W2K over 9x any day of the week. Fast, stable, long uptime, and hibernation support. 8500 AIW is the same functionality if you don't play games. If you do, there is a world of difference in favor of the 8500. I've heard mediocre things about the new MS wireless keyboard and mouse combo...
Timon, yes, HL will work with powerstrip. Think of it as an extension of the display properties in the OS. Whether or not the 8500 will output everything to HD is unknown to me. From an email I just recieved: Highest quality method to deliver component output with your RADEON™ 8500 class...
I would think that because the PC can do so many things it is a very likely candidate to be able to read SACD or DVD-A. The reality is that there is no way people are going to produce drives that can rip those formats to Kazaa, et al.
I know it is all over, but....
I'm surprised that nobody mentioned the obvious: have CC PM BB's price. That CC store loses $5 off what they originally planned on selling that piece of media for. Granted, they probably paid $12.00 or some such junk, but it is a way we can strike back at their...
After a great deal of thoughtful listening, I went with the NSP1s. They didn't have the low end that the s38s have, but that's why I have a sub.
I couldn't justify the price of Divas, which were the other speakers I thought competed on a price/performance scale.
I think Butch C's idea is a good start. I for one would be happy to support the cause. Maybe showing some $$ would help convince the studios and retailers of what we want to keep: OAR.
Sorry, I was typing when your BB post came up. If you used an AmEx card, they'll take it back if BB won't. Many CC companies do this service. If push comes to shove, I think that disputing the charge wouldn't be a waste of time.
Ok, what does it mean when I just saw a letterboxed Budweiser commercial? The nexus of the universe (J6P and OAR in one image?)
Honestly, I don't think the studios or the stores know what the public wants. On one hand I can't rent "The Mummy Returns" in OAR (thx Ballbuster,) but I can routinely...
Ron, (or others)
I think that the forum (some notwithstanding) is overwhelmingly pro-OAR, and therefore very afraid of losing it.
What can we do as enthusiasts to promote our cause/educate those out there? You have the connections to the studios.... Compared to the last 15 minutes I've...
Jeff,
You make some fine points. I agree that we don't have the whole picture yet--certainly not enough for me not to keep the 7200 in my demo list this Christmas.
I don't think that these problem should be glossed over because of that fact. You feel your way, but I am grateful...
Jeff K,
Avoid saying things like "you people." It is fairly condescending.
If you read my post, I never assumed that Marantz had be telepathic. I did put the ownership of contact upon S&V--they should have minimally called the support team to find out why their receiver sucked...
I agree. I have been an S&V subscriber for quite a while and I am not too pleased with their testing techniques.
In the PC world, the only reviews that are worth anything are those from places that are willing to tell a manufacturer where to go. (A great example is hardocp.com who exposed a...
I thought I should note that my BB (Colo Spgs) had 40 copies of Swordfish on the shelf (mind you, it wasn't renting all that well) this evening.
I've got that 52 free rentals from a DTV signup, so I'll be visiting once a week for the next 51 weeks, I guess....

Circus World? Yeah, the choice of so many audio enthusiasts. They might be great speakers, but I just don't know....
I have had this problem for a number of rental discs (yes, I'm a netflixer...sorry folks.) Generally there are two causes: 1) cracked disc, usually at the spindle, or 2) greasy fingerprints on the disc. Sometimes these can be very stubborn.
Otherwise the S330 is a great player, at least for us...
