    Denon DVD-1600 or DVD-3800??

Guys, I probably made the 3800's build quality sound worse than it is. There's no doubt it's very good! I was just disappointed that it was made in China rather than Japan, and commenting on the fact that the Sony 9000ES was a better built machine for the same price. I think that anyone who...

    Denon DVD-1600 or DVD-3800??

Chip - I currently have the 3800 and have previously owned the 9000ES (got rid of it as I wasn't happy with the video performance). The 3800 doesn't have a copper shielded chassis like the 9000ES, and is less robust. The 3800's power supplies also appear to be inferior in quality to the...

    Denon DVD-1600 or DVD-3800??

I have owned the 3800 for about a week now. After applying the chroma fix firmware update (VERY easy to do via 2 CD-R's) the picture is OUTSTANDING. I have owned many DVD players since the format's inception and this is the best quality picture I've seen on my FP system (tweaked Sony 10HT on...

Denon's Flagship 9000 is Now Chroma Bug Free

Squeeze mode windowboxes 4:3 material in a 16:9 screen, I assume, for RPTV's that lock on full. I have no need of this feature so haven't tried it out. Tom

Denon's Flagship 9000 is Now Chroma Bug Free

I have the 3800 and it has a Zoom feature, but no scaling ability like the RP91. I imagine the 9000 is the same. Tom

    Sade Lovers Live DVD

Picked up this disc yesterday. While I agree it's a good effort and anamorphic to boot, the packaging clearly shows the DTS logo but a DTS soundtrack appears to be absent from the disc. Has anyone been able to find a DTS track? The DTS logo clearly appears on both the disc and outer packaging...

GC video thru component connection and audio question.

Mike, Thanks. My surround processor doesn't support DPLII (yet), but it does have Circle Surround, which is similar. I'm pretty shocked the Cube doesn't have an optical out when XBOX and PS2 both do. Guess we won't be seeing any 5.1 games on the Cube! Tom

GC video thru component connection and audio question.

Is there any way to get digital AUDIO out of the cube? The port the component cable plugs into is called DIGITAL AV port in the manual. Any chance of a cable being introduced in the future that might offer component video cables AND a Toslink output for the audio? That would suck if the Cube was...

    *** Official "Gamecube" discussion thread

I notice the output port on the Cube the component video cable plugs into is labelled DIGITAL AV. Any chance this port will offer an optical digital out for audio in the future? Or, is the Cube stuck with analog audio only? That would be a pretty major disadvantage against PS2 and XBOX. Tom
