For those interested, the not-on-dvd "Return to the Streets of San Francisco" made-for-tv movie is airing tomorrow 1/20 on the Movies! network. It's a sub-channel on one of my local stations that I get over-the-air with my antenna. I've added the link below with tomorrow's schedule. There is a...
In Barrie Maxwell's Classic Coming Attractions (link below) posted today on the bits he mentions that Desperate Journey and Edge of Darkness are being restored and remastered for a fourth Flynn set next year. We also finally get the answers as to why Silver River and Santa Fe Trail were not...
Now they have a "Buy Any 10 For Just $99.95" offer on the initial 150 titles. Just look in the pane on the left. I can finally buy the Crawford/Gable pairings without the fear of a bundle being available afterwards.
I've ordered the Gary Cooper and Silent Film bundles and they should be arriving today. These will be my first Warner Archive DVDs and I'm looking forward to them. I'll be purchasing the Women of Warner Bros. bundle as soon as it's available.
My main dilemma right now is that I've been wanting...
I have this one and The 400 Blows pre-ordered. I've never seen either, but have only heard great things about both, plus Catherine Deneuve in HD can only be a good thing. I just hope I will be seeing Repulsion, Belle de Jour and Umbrellas of Cherbourg in High-Def soon.
I just ordered this and should have it Monday, along with Four Flies on Grey Velvet (which I've haven't seen) on DVD. I hope that Deep Red is their next Argento Blu-ray. Of course, I'd rather they release Suspiria ASAP if they will indeed be losing the license, if they haven't already.
I purchased my first DVD player in May 1997 at Best Buy for $499 (cheapest model). There were only 4 titles from Sony to choose from since Warner was still only releasing in the seven test cities which were all too far from where I lived. I picked up In the Line of Fire, Jumanji, and Legends of...
My set arrived yesterday. I sampled a few moments of each to check out picture quality and was not dissapointed. I'll probably watch them in chronological order as I believe it will be interestingto follow one director's (Borzage) work through the transition from silent to talking pictures...
I just placed an order for the boxset as well. They've added a "Vault Collection" to the store category described as "a continuing line of rare and forgotten film releases" which makes me wonder what they have planned for the future. It also mentions that they will be produced in small...
According to TCM's website when they aired these films they "purchased the copyrights and all right, title and intrests" to these six films so these may actually be TCM exclusives at the moment. That could explain the pricing and I'm more than willing to pay it. $65.00 for the box set is almost...
I would love to see a "making of" about this episode when the DVDs come out. Even though the basic plot didn't rely on one candidate or the other winning, it did make a big difference in how the characters fit into each scene. I wonder if there is an almost complete alternate episode sitting...
DVD Profiler used to be much more convenient because of a third party software that allowed you to copy cast and crew lists from IMDB and import them into the database instead of manually entering it all, but with the newest version it's not compatible and that's probably why alot of titles...
Hopefully they will pull a Fox and like their studio classics line start with 3 previously released titles with new extras before releasing the newer titles from the vaults.
What timing! Yesterday I was going through his filmography and making note of what was and wasn't available on DVD. With the release of this set I believe Mr. Peck will be one of the best represented actors on DVD. 47 of his 57 films will have been released in Region 1. Beloved Infidel and Days...
I'd buy all of those sets especially Gene Tierney. Fox's recent 10 film Tyrone Power set gives me hope. It's obvious a genuine film lover was involved in that set.
I've got my DVD-R copy of Union Station recorded from TCM. I'm always keeping a lookout for any films airing from both him and Barbara Stanwyck that aren't available on home video. I really enjoy knowing that my favorite actor and actress were such good friends off screen. If only they had done...
I'm not sure about Fedora, but I know MGM released it on Laserdisc and VHS, but it wasn't an MGM or United Artists production even though UA did distribute it in the U.S. It just so happens I ordered the Region 2 DVD of The Revengers and hope it arrives this week. I've been searching for it for...
I've seen mention in several threads over the years clamoring for several actors to have box sets dedicated to them, but it seems William Holden is not at the top of most people's lists. Admittedly, his best films have been released. I made a list of most of his remaining films not on DVD and...
I know James MacArthur was in the unaired 1997 TV movie, which I believe was actually a pilot for a new series, as Governor Dan Williams. Apparently CBS decided not to air it since it featured Kam Fong as Chin Ho, who had been killed off in the 10th season and no one working on the new show...
I know the new Hawaii Five-O is actually more of a continuation focusing on McGarrett's son. Does anyone one know if the new Streets of San Francisco is a remake of the original series or a new series that exist in the same universe as the old show. I prefer the latter since that allows for...
What's extremely frustrating, for anyone who bought the original Columbia House releases, is that this December 9th release will still be covering the same material they've had for years. I wouldn't mind the split seasons if they were released closer together. I'm tired of rationing out episodes...
Four Flies on Grey Velvet is #1 on my most wanted from Paramount. To my knowledge it has only had one official video release, and that was in France in the 1980s. I'm a fan of Dario Argento and have never seen this film due to it's unavailability and would like my first viewing to be in it's...
I'm going see this on Saturday. Roger Ebert gave the film 3½ stars, but I have no idea how familiar he is with the series itself. I am still optimistic, however. I purchased the complete series set a few months ago to prepare. I know it's a standalone film, but I'm sure it will be much richer...
Has anyone else noticed The Dark Knight is #1 on imdb's Top 250 list with currently a 9.4 above The Godfather's 9.1 score? Not that this list has much value/accuracy to me personally, but it is an example of how audiences in general are declaring this the best movie ever made a bit prematurely...
I've turned into a Turner Classic Movies recording junkie! I try to record almost anything that's interest me not available on video and burn it to DVD. I love when they do birthday tributes and the star of the month is a great way to get unavailable films from great actors and rare oldies. I've...
Geneon USA, the company that released the DVDs shut down on December 31, 2007. This series was lucky since the final volume was one of their last releases. Others series were just dropped when the company closed leaving some consumers feeling a bit cheated since they purchased the first few...
I was wondering with the recent switch from fold-out cases and slim cases in a box to multi-disc keep cases on titles such as Cheers and Perry Mason, does anyone think Paramount will sell repackaged versions of the previous seasons? Right now I only own the 50th Anniversary Perry Mason set...
