The Linn Katans are nice speakers...one of my favorites...but VERY difficult to drive. Definitely listen to the Haydns. Can be boomy with impropper placement...but a very nice, smooth, non-fatiguing speaker. Polk LSi7 or LSi9. Some of the best upper range in any speaker less than $1,000...
I second contacting The Needle Doctor. They helped me in getting a replacement for a 30+ year old TT at a very reasonable price. (less than $50 - although they did point out that I could step up an spend more to get a better cartridge if I wanted to). I'm sure they could help you.
Robert, If you haven't purchased this set (or another one in its place) go ahead and buy it. I purchased this one to put in my living room (Mainly for cable and the occasional movie when the HT is being used). It is a very nice set - especially for the price. I'm using the set's speakers and a...
I have that exact reciever and I am currently using a pair of Polk RT25is along with a set of Classic Large Advents on the B side and I am extremely pleased with the results. The Denon goes well with the Polk RT series. This speaker is hard to find now but Polk's next generation of this speaker...
Polk LSi9 Vienna Acoustics Haydn Linn Katan I can highly recommend any of the above. I have spent a bit of time with each of the three speakers and have listed them in order of preference. All three have a MSPR of around $1,000.
I can't speak for the Onkyo, but I have the Denon DRA-685. I've listened to various speakers with this receiver including Vienna Acoustics and Polk as well as vintage AR and Advents. I recommend it if you are looking for a reasonably priced and quite good stereo receiver as an alternative to...
POLK! If the RTi28s are anything like their predecessor RT25i they are a wonderful speaker - Yes for MUSIC too! - Stereophile thought so in a review HERE. The reviewer rates it one of the best sub $1,000 speakers he has tested. (No, Polk is not a big Stereophile advertiser) I have these mated...
My experience is that the NAD will do just fine. I'd rather have the 50 watts of high current that the NAD puts out than 100 of the Denon with the LSis. Don't get me wrong. I have owned both and currently own a Denon AVR and like it a lot so what I am saying is that the NAD is very good and will...
I've purchased several items from them. I started using them because they are an authorized Denon dealer and I was purchasing a Denon receiver. You have to negotiate to get the best price, but they will usually deal. Good service and everything has been delivered as promised.

Try to find and listen to the Polk LSi9s. They are an excellent speaker that can be had for less than $900. The first time I heard them I thought they were mated with a sub, but they weren't. I have also heard them with a REL sub and they sound even better. I also like the Vienna Acoustics...
