A Few Words About A few words about...™ Blood and Black Lace -- in Blu-ray

This is receiving a UHD and Blu-ray re-release by Arrow in the UK in September and it's being presented in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio.

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

So if I am reading this correctly then the 4k could potentially have correct framing after all? How likely do you think this is and is there anything you noticed while watching in motion which made you question the framing? If there is no real evidence that it's wrong then I'll probably...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

I'm sure that there are improvements but the reframing just disturbs me for lack of a better word. This is not something I want to see any company make a habit out of especially when the filmmakers aren't around to do anything about it. I just can't support a practice like this and the fact this...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

I was happy when I saw the original review for this but after seeing the revised lower scores and seeing the reframing I will have to pass. They should have left the framing alone and not let someone go through the movie and reframe whatever they wanted as it's no longer the same movie as...

Pre-Order 2001: A Space Odyssey (4k UHD) Available for Preorder

The posters on that site tend to overexaggerate a lot and see teal in everything. After they've cried wolf so many times saying something has been tealed when it clearly hasn't, I can't trust their opinions. I have seen the DCP which is by all accounts going to look similar to the remastered...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Matrix -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

Can't wait to get this. Glad to hear that the matrix scenes are still green. For some reason a few people inaccurately claimed that there was no green in those scenes originally, people parroted that and it kind of got accepted as fact. It's great that the color timing on the UHD is exactly as...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Fistful of Dollars -- in Blu-ray

The one on the Kino is a newer restoration made a few years back and was presented at Cannes. The Italian Blu-ray is from a 2007 restoration by Ripley's Home Video where their goal was to accurately recreate the original look of the film. The restoration seen on the Kino was done by L'Imaggine...

    International Sergio Leone Blu-ray thread

Your claims can easily be proven false by simply taking a cursory look at forum threads from around the time the remastered Blu-ray was released in 2014. There were numerous posts complaining about the colors changing from shot to shot and scene to scene indicating that the "piss tint" wasn't...

Criterion Press Release: Dressed To Kill (Blu-ray)

I advise everybody to keep hold of their current non-Criterion discs. This whole situation has been a clusterfuck and the way Criterion is wording some of the things in their statements confuses matters even more. Will they keep the extra information but just change the ratio to even out the...

Criterion Press Release: Dressed To Kill (Blu-ray)

How do you feel about this all and how would you feel if the framing matched the MGM exactly? You were one of the few that felt the uncorrected Criterion was the most accurate and described certain things in the MGM disc as looking "blown-up and stretched in a ridiculous fashion".

Criterion Press Release: Dressed To Kill (Blu-ray)

My guess would be the one above.

Criterion Press Release: Dressed To Kill (Blu-ray)

Just did a circle check on the mirror in the background and the old release seemed perfect, in the new one the mirror is oval which would be very unusual. To me, the objects on the desk look very slim in the Criterion screenshot and Nancy looks crushed and unnaturally proportioned.

Criterion Press Release: Dressed To Kill (Blu-ray)

So what about this? The iris in the first screenshot is from the current Blu-ray and you can see that it is the usual shape of an iris. In the second, the iris is oval.
