I'm not completely sure, but I think it's an improvement on the software that chipmaker Cirrus has available for those processors/receivers that use their DSP chips. I have a UMC-200, but I go the manual route by using the 11 band P-EQ, along with REW and a miniDSP UMIK-1 for measurements...

My experience is Oppo is quite reasonable when sending in a unit for repair. Can't hurt to call their customer service and see what they can do for you. I still have a BDP-83 going strong and while it's not the fastest to load, it still plays blu-rays every bit as my BDP-93.

Personally if we as customers can't have finalized specs of 10 or 12 bit 4K video with frame rates of at least 60Hz, then why even bother with 4K at all. My professionally calibrated Panasonic ST60 look absolutely stunning, so I'm prepared to sit 4K out until hopefully get the above specs.

Used Emotiva is a really good option as well as it has a transferable warranty. You could also call Emotiva and ask if they have any B-Stock of the model(s) you are interested in and their 5 year warranty also applies.
