Well this thread took a turn for the odd........Robert and Andre the Giant (in his roll as Bigfoot from Six Million Dollar Man) go back in time to fight for The Alamo! Only on Pay Per View, proceeds to go to film preservation.
LOL Right. I didn't assume it would but had hoped that it was due to the old DVD's transfer that it looked as bad as it did.....my only other experiences with the film prior to the 1999 DVD were on TV and Cable P&S.
Regarding this "new" transfer, have better mastering tools or just the better transfer made the tinted day for night scenes any better? I can usually go with (or in badly executed examples, ignore) this age old technique but in Deliverance's case some of those shots were bizarrely atrocious!
Basically, yeah, it's a rip off of Deliverance with a dash of Hill's Have Eyes & Most Dangerous Game thrown in for good measure.
But it's still in the "Surviving nature or surviving man's nature" mind set of Deliverance.
But hey, you tell me......I see the earmarks of Deliverance all over...
Without Deliverance there never would have been a Canadian rip-off "Rituals".
Honestly though, if you see Deliverance as just "backwoods horror" then you haven't really watched the film or certainly read the book....it's about much more than that.
Aw man. I just re-re-re watched Julie & Julia the other day with my wife and commented while watching the extras on how I love her personality.
R.I.P. you were an original.
I would like to think the man who wrote the novel that the film is based on would have a small roll, seeing as he is the one who did the homework on Gein (and many others) for the novel to begin with.
Herman should certainly have representation seeing as it is his score that truly made the...
Wait a minute....Ralph Macchio as Joe Stefano? THAT is actually an interesting choice.
But it doesn't seem to have Robert Bloch anywhere, I mean they even have Saul Bass & Ed Gein in the cast for god's sake but not the writer of the original novel?
Who would you rather have playing Leigh, Anne Heche? ....................oh.
Knowing Hollywood They'll probably have Keira Knightley playing Pat Hitchcock and Robert Pattinson playing Anthony Perkins.
Hmm...as much as I hate Twilight, Pattinson might actually be able to pull that...
Yeah, that's what I have been saying over at IMDB and YouTube (don't know why I go to those places as you get more thoughtful opinions out of sports bar bathroom stalls).
"It seems to be a mash-up of the original Total Recall - Blade Runner - The Bourne Identity - Minority Report and...
Well...here's the first trailer:

...yep.
I am not a fan of this decade long remake virus overtaking "Hollywood" and this doesn't alleviate my distaste with the trend very much.
Yeah it's glossy and loud, but the fact that the filmmakers are again...
