Dammit.
I'm not canceling my order, though. I've waited far too long for "Raise the Red Lantern" and this looks to be about the best way to get "Ju Dou" in America these days.
If you have any thoughts, I'll do what I can to help. This is my favorite cartoon of its ilk and while I've long-awaited Darkwing dawning on DVD, this has long been a fear of mine. In the meantime, I'll get to writing a letter or two. A good luck, Chris, getting ahold of Tad Stones. Years...
News is rarely this good. Hopefully the 2-part "Darkly Dawns the Duck" ends up on this set; though, if they follow the pattern they used for DuckTales and Rescue Rangers (production, not airdate order), then these episodes (#52-53, though about 7 production numbers don't exist) won't make it...
Was in Borders today, and a good number of the Warner box sets collections were discounted to $19.99. Not all are (I was hoping for Scorsese and Hitchcock... not so much), but I picked up the Film Noir collection. Titles that I know for sure are on sale include the Academy Awards II collection...
That may be a bad sign, but that isn't going to keep from getting my hopes up!
So what's the deal, MGM doesn't have the rights anymore?
With this coming soon, I think that's the last of the major "why the hell isn't this on DVD?" films I had on my list (now that Au Revoir Les Enfants is...
Anyone who hasn't seen it should definitely check out NewsRadio and the Comedic Art. This season featured Jimmy James' attempt at the White House as well as the brilliant Daydream episode. And like twenty-some other brilliant episodes. This is pure speculation: I recall there being some...
I'd like that, Martin. I'd like that a lot. But I'm just really, really happy about this. Can't wait to go through this season again. Some absolutely brilliant stuff.
I'd like them to, but I can't speak from a business perspective. I doubt it has that much to do with the quality. Fans will buy. They weren't intolerable (in my opinion). Perhaps when Sony's emptied out most their vaults (wrapped up Seinfeld, finished up most of their popular seventies...
Just hoping for another hit or three of "NewsRadio." And I realize it's probably a pipe dream, but I still dream of further seasons of "Mad About You."
Taken directly from an Amazon reviewer called "spdrpan":
This rings true. If things are to be put on the sets in production order, it could very well be this way. I know that Darkwing Duck's "pilot" hour-long episode wasn't by any means the first one made.
"Darkwing Duck" has held up amazingly well for me as well (I spent most of my high school years running... a popular DW fansite) and I enjoy it about as much as I did then - even if on some slightly different levels. Let's hope sales are good enough to get us all 91 UNCUT episodes. "Darkwing"...
Pity. Hopefully that gets released somewhere at some point. Any word on whether or not these are going to be completley uncut? I've got mine preordered now, but I'm still a little nervous.
