Saw it last weekend. I quite liked it. Not the best, but not "Doom" or "Skull" either which is a positive to me.
The only problem I had with it - other than the wonky CGI pull-back of the train as Indy is beginning his run on the roof - was the sound mix. To me, it was like "Spider-Man...
Maybe Indy is differentiating between "magic", a form of showmanship, and the "supernatural", an otherworldly power.
I don't know. Just making up an excuse until we see the context of the dialog.
When Paramount first released TMP on laserdisc, it was 1981 and in pan and scan. Widescreen was far from a regular thing at that time. The SLV was first released in 1983, and widescreen letterbox formats were still not a thing yet. That didn't start to really become common for LD releases...
I still have the original DVD of this, and we actually watched it about a month ago. It really didn't look that bad upscaled on our Samsung 55". I'll wait to hear if this Blu-ray is really better.
I too was a bit disappointed that the transfer skipped the 1.85:1 segment. That was cool in the...
'91. That's when the widescreen laserdisc and widescreen VHS was released. I think the VHS was first in July of that year, and then the laserdisc by Sept.
When it was first released on VHS in '81, it was the pan-and-scan theatrical cut. The Special Longer Version, also only pan-and-scan...
That's around the time I got in LD too. By then, the widescreen theatrical cut was out on LD, and that's the version I bought. Still have the LD, but no longer have a player.
My wife tried to get tickets last night but couldn't get through on the AMC site.
But this morning it was no problem. We are going Sunday on the 19th and had no problems finding a sweet spot right in the middle of the theater with only 10 other seats taken at the time. In fact, there were...
Pretty sure just clicking the "X" in the upper right of the message will clear it. I got the message this morning that I can run Win 11 on mine. Only that it's not ready to load just yet - they will let me know when it's ready. I clicked the "X" and now it's just a side message on the right...
Wow indeed.
Noticed that there isn't one overall color tone shift. It's different scene by scene. Vulcan is much warmer. Most of the scenes on the ship (corridors, bridge, Kirk's quarters) have the exact same color only brighter or better contrast (though the engine room image, and maybe one...
My oldest son and I have still been slowly going through the whole series. I think I mentioned it earlier in this thread (or could have been another one). We catch maybe 2 or 3 a week. My son, in his early 20s now, is still enjoying it, and wants to carry it to the movies when we get there...
Just quoting myself as a follow up. I noticed now, and maybe it's said this all along, but the MS website now has one of the requirements specifically stating:
System firmware
UEFI, Secure Boot capable
Not saying it needs to be enabled. Just "capable". I'm good then.
