The French Extended Edition looks literally unwatchable. The German Koch Extended Edition is the same Theatrical print w/ addition of 40 mins of SD insert's. However even these inserts look superior to the French print. I bet my 90's Laserdisc looks superior to the French print as well.
I don't believe the Raiders 4K looks dark at all. I was pleasantly surprised that it shows full shadow detail inside the opening cave sequence and Well of Souls. Some 4K transfers do indeed look a little too dark (Jurassic Park Raptor/Kitchen scene comes to mind). As far as comparison to the...
Thanks for the reply. Good explanation. That makes perfect sense. However I do wish they would have used every single second of hi-rez Theatrical footage available; however jarring the cuts might be. But that's just me. It will be interesting if Criterion - or some other vender releases...
