I was 14-15 when this originally aired so I was the perfect age for it, having come off summer '89 & the Keaton Batman movie. Felt like the same "universe" at the time. Taped every episode & have the DVD set. Fond memories of CBS that fall watching The Flash and E A.R.T.H. Force 😄
The original season 1 DVD was released by 20th. The rights reverted to CBS/Paramount starting with the season 2 DVD set. (Re-releases of the season 1 set came from CBS/Paramount also.)
I can't say for sure, but maybe that 20th logo is still showing from that original season 1 DVD run.
Just...
I had fun revisiting Matthew Star a few years back. It aired back to back with Knight Rider's premiere season that year on NBC. (Memories from when I was 7!)
I wrote about it here: https://drunktv.net/2019/02/24/the-powers-of-matthew-star-1982-1983-tv-series-review/
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think BobO'Link is talking specifically about TV that aired before streaming & hone video were considered....and nowadays, modern & streaming productions have the music rights written into the contracts, unlike those old shows.
Hopefully someone can answer this as I know the labeling you're referring to and always wondered the same thing.
My speculative thinking back when they were first produced was that Warner Archive was simply labeling some MOD collections this way because they were also available to download...
Purchased my Longstreet set direct from VEI a year or two ago. Standard-width clear case. Insert is blank on the inside. No episode titles/guide or information.
World of Giants was announced via their newsletter (it can be found on their website but you have to look for it). No pre-orders or release date set yet.
Aldo wanted to say thanks again (it's been a few years) for these lists. I've referred to them often over the years.
Right! I just looked at that sequence again on the Blu-ray. Magnum peels out in the grass in the Ferrari and where it segues into the theme in the original airing, here it cuts to the airplane landing at the airport.
I just started watching the new Blu-ray set and the pilot is indeed broken up into two parts and has the more familiar Mike Post theme (with no cold open). I'm 11 minutes in and familiar enough with the pilot episode that I detected a missing scene. Dug out the old DVD to double-check and the...
For anyone interested, my copy of The Trials of Rosie O'Neill arrived & I did an unboxing video for it.
Not a bad looking set, package-wise. Find the YouTube video here.
New North America Baywatch set announced by VEI. Appears to be the 9 seasons (minus the two Baywatch: Hawaii seasons and the Baywatch Nights spinoff) in both DVD & Blu-ray configurations (at least according to their FB post). Remastered in HD, these are likely the editions found on streaming...
Per today's virtual Warner Archive panel at ComicCon: Space Ghost and Dino Boy to be restored & remastered. A Blu-ray release is forthcoming, according to George Feltenstein.
Both seasons of MURDER ONE, season 8 of NYPD BLUE, and a volume of VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA that I didn't yet have.
Generally, ryinh to fill the gaps in my 20th Century-Fox TV collection. No telling where they might go with Disney taking ownership.
