Can it be done? HT for $750

For impressive quality at really low prices, you simply can't beat Fluance speakers. (www.fluance.com) I've had the $200 AV-HTB set for two years and still love 'em. Combined with a Dayton 10" sub and relatively cheap HK refurb receiver, the sound always blows away my guests. (Well, first...

Time for HT seating, but what to look for?

I ordered 3 Berkline 090s from Ultimate Home Entertainment (www.rtheaters.com) and they came in yesterday. I am thrilled with them. Good price, good quality, good service. And the motorized recline is great - definitely a must have for the HT. I have not noticed any blocking of surround...

Build vs. Buy - what's a cheapskate to do?

Wow - thanks for the responses! Definitely gives me more to think about.

Build vs. Buy - what's a cheapskate to do?

Well, I guess it's soon time to replace my Dell Dimension 4100. It seems to do most of what I want, but I think I've had enough of monkeying around with Windows ME. If I'm going to make the jump to XP, I might as well just get a new computer. My question: should I buy or build? I'm sick of...

    Whats Next for HT?

I've got a process I'm going to patent called Real Life II. With this system, you'll experience incredible colors and textures that have never before been seen in any HT system. My overpriced certified installers will come into your theater and first install the new display portal I refer to as...

Time for HT seating, but what to look for?

Anyone have any thoughts on the Berkline 090's?

Time for HT seating, but what to look for?

I finally have a few extra dollars that I can use to buy a row of 3 HT recliners. My budget is about $2,500 max, but if I can get good seats for less I'm not committed to spending every last nickel. I'm thinking I want to go with leather (well, leather and vinyl combo is fine) in either red or...

$500,000 to spend - Where do I start?

Pick up a copy of Great Escapes: New Designs for Home Theaters by Theo Kalomirakis. The incredible home theaters in this book should help you get some ideas of what's possible.

Help with projector and screen (DIY?) choices

A DIY blackout cloth screen is so inexpensive that there's no downside to giving it a try. I made my (approx) 7' by 4' screen for about $30 including the cloth, lumber, and hardware. (Already had the black paint and staples. I didn't paint the screen itself and don't think I'd want to try that.)...

    Switching between 2 DVD players

Picked up a $29 Toshiba SD-3980 during Black Friday madness at Best Buy. I'll give it a try with the S-video connection and see if the picture quality is sufficient. (But it'll have to wait - wife won't let me open my presents until Christmas!)

    Black Friday Sales

Saw copies of it there, but I don't think it was on sale. But I think Target online has the special edition for $13.99.

    Black Friday Sales

Well Todd, you'll soon realize it was all worthwhile when you are laying in bed in your freshly laundered 1200 thread count sheets watching Office Space and humming one of Garth's hits. But I believe you have my stapler.

    Black Friday Sales

Decided to go to the Palmyra PA Walmart, the more rural of the two Walmarts in my county. Probably a good decision. Got there at 4:30am, and waited with the huddled masses gathered around the pallets spread out in the dairy aisle. All the 5am sale items were wrapped in black plastic, with sales...

    Switching between 2 DVD players

That wouldn't work for me since I use a projector and my inputs are already used up. Well, actually, my s-video input is open. I guess I could use that. I should have an open input on the receiver also. Maybe I'll give it a try and see how it works out.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire..Reviews

There might be some interesting deleted scenes that will eventually show up on DVD. There were several times when a line or two of off camera dialogue explained something that wasn't shown. Given the length of this film they were probably looking for cuts wherever they could find them. There...
