Yes, the X500 is better than everything. Unfortunately, not available in Canada. I just bought the 57T500 (same as the S except for AVNet) for $3200, and am awaiting delivery.

The new '84 models have stretch modes for HD content too, not just SD content. This comes in handy when you have 4:3 HD content.
