I too prefer Elton John's version of 'Lucy' over The Beatles version. It's more robust and satisfying. The Beatles version sounds like a demo by comparison.
I don't think it's a matter of impact but rather of importance, quality and longevity of the music(keyword being 'music' and not how recently the artist has released a record). The Cure and Sabbath should be inducted as much as Mott The Hoople and the Strawberry Alarm Clock, or Human League...
Don't the groups submitted into the RHOF have to at least be good? I mean some of you are rattling off group names like The Cure, New York Dolls and Black Sabbath like they're in the same league as Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, The Police and so on. Heart? The Jam? C'mon folks. There's music...
The Tabitha theme song is terrible. The lyrics, the melody, and the choice of singer. I'm often a fan of 70's TV theme shows but the one for Tabitha is probably the worst I've ever heard compared to say themes from Alice, Angie, Chico and the Man, Welcome Back Kotter and so on.
Yeah I'm moving right after Episode 3 comes out(don't want to see it dubbed or with subtitles!). But it's not 100% until I get my passport back from the Swedish government, hopefully with a residential permit stamp included. If not Sweden then France, or maybe Australia. Or Mars.
Since punk rockers declared rock'n roll to be dead back in the 70's, but I guess that's beside the point when groups like Earth, Wind & Fire and The Bee Gees are also in the RnRHoF.
We have a winna! Good one, Mark. :D Wasn't there a character named in Cheetah in the Ron Ely series? I sometimes confuse Jai's character with someone or something named Cheetah.
Wow I was JUST thinking about the show the other day. But then again I was watching American Graffiti on TCM so that could explain the reason why. ;) (the first person that makes the connection between the two wins a smart pants awards)
Having grown up in the 70's(and considering it the best decade) this series slipped under my radar until I saw it on TV Land last year. I probably didn't know about it because I was still living in Australia in 1977 and perhaps Tabatha didn't reach down unda. It wasn't shown in reruns either...
