The StudioCanal one bizarrely removed the yellow tint from the newspaper pages in the opening sequence.. which is odd as it is specifically referenced in the documentary as a look the filmmakers wanted to achieve!

It was at the start of his declining health but the problem is really with the source material. Holmes is absent for a large chunk and the whole production felt sluggish anyway regardless of his presence. Definitely the weakest link in an otherwise excellent set of adaptations.
For what is is worth... I remember this longer version was the one released on sell thru VHS in the UK many, many years ago. CIC video with a slipcase. Perhaps this version was actually the European cut and the film was trimmed for the US. Only now with a universal master the trimmed version...

Opening and closing credits are the original English language ones. The menus only have the titles of each episode in Spanish (with the English language title after it on the disc case) so not difficult to work out which one you need to select. The packaging is obviously Spanish with a few typos...
Got this myself recently and am ploughing through the episodes. The menus are in Spanish but easy enough to navigate. There is an original English audio option. The quality of the episodes themselves is uniformlly excellent. I'm noticing all kinds of things I've not seen before. And of course...
