I was choosing between the same speakers several months ago. I ended up going with the Fluance because I really wanted floor standing speakers, and the price was right. I couldn't be happier. the sound quality blows away anything I've heard in this price range, and the build quality is good...
Thanks for those responses. So would these kinds of dropouts be permanent, or could it be resolved by returning the cable to its original position? Basically I have heard that optic cables are made out of some type of glass, or perhaps just the really high-end optic cables. And I know...
You can't, you need to use the digital out from your cable box to get Dolby digital. This should be either an optical out, or, more likely, a coaxial out (usually an orange-colored output). Naturally, either optical or coaxial inputs must be present on your receiver.
Using cable ties to keep everything neat, I folded my optical cable and tied it at the center, leaving a figure 8 shape. However after learning that optical cables shouldn't be bent due to loss of signal, I am wondering if I have permanently damaged the cable, or if I can gain optimal...
I don't think you can go wrong with the SX-HTB, and if you have the extra cash, the AV-BP2 Bipolars for rears. That leaves about $150-200 for a sub in which case you can get the Flauance sub (which I haven't heard too much about) or either the Dayton 10" or the Velodyne VX10.
Going off the numerous recommendations I went to home depot to pick up some speaker wire. However I found something odd while stripping the wire. There appears to be two green threads on the positive wire. I have never seen this before and my initial thought is that something like this will...
Thanks for the responses. John, I don't know why I didn't think of that before! It's a digital signal so it shouldn't even matter how the original source was delivered. :D Somehow this slipped my mind. I guess I'm surprised at how good the coax signal is. I can definitely tell the...
I recently got digital cable and upon receiving the box I noticed it had a digital audio out, as well as an S-Video out. Now the analogue digital audio out has obvious benefits, as the cable box outputs a signal that is split into 5 channels. However I don't see how the S-Video can give...
Stephen, I agree. The subwoofer on that system was really uninspiring when I heard it, and I am by no means a bass chaser. The sub on the system seems almost nonexistent, even turned all the way up. However I'm sure the Onkyos would produce decent sound with a different sub. All that said...
" That's one opinion, but I'm in the good speakers/average TV group, because I'd much rather hear great speakers than watch a nicer TV. I would never be happy with something as unsubstantial as the NSP1s. To each their own. " I'm in the 'speaker group' as well. I think speakers are more...
