    A Few Words About A few words about…™ Alien — in 4k UHD Blu-ray

Got through the first 30 mins last night, just had my new Panasonic 4K OLED calibrated by Mike Osadciw last week...great timing as this disc is AMAZING. Wow, well done Fox, can't wait to watch the rest. The fine detail is breathtaking and the contrast so good, love the inky deep black levels.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Star Wars: The Last Jedi -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

I don't know what Disney is doing with their Atmos encodings, the levels are absurdly low. I have some audiophile SHM-SACDs from Universal Japan and Hoffman-mastered SACDs from Audio Fidelity that appear to have less headroom than Disney are putting on their UHD Atmos tracks. The dts-ma track...

Panasonic Flagship 4K Blu-ray Player Coming to US?

Doesn't look like it supports SACD though (no Panny does I believe) so for a niche segment of the market it will not be a viable replacement for the Oppo or even the Sony which now supports DVD-Audio.

A Few Words About A few words about…™ Christopher Nolan Collection — in 4k UHD Blu-ray

Just because I didn't see it answered affirmatively, only Batman Begins has a new master/transfer on the Blu-ray Disc, the other two Dark Knight films the Blu-ray is the same transfer found on the original releases.

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Dunkirk -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

I went to see this twice in theatres, once in IMAX 15-perf/70mm and once in the new Laser IMAX (Toronto) which has the new 12-channel sound system. I was very excited to see this in Laser IMAX due to it being in 2D, as it's not limited to 4K with the dual laser system like 3D is. In virtually...

Win an Onkyo TX-NR1030 9.2 channel Dolby Atmos AV Receiver (Redux)

Given my AVRs over the past few years have gone from the Onkyo 805 to the Onkyo 818 to my current Onkyo 1010 I'd have to say moving to the 1030 for Atmos would be awesome. I enjoy listening to SACDs in DSD DIRECT and the Onkyo AVRs I've had all support this, I only need to add some Onkyo Atmos...

HTF BLU-RAY AUDIO REVIEW: Nine Inch Nails: Ghosts I-IV

Nice in depth review and really enjoyed the comparisons. Two comments: 1) If the Blu-ray player is only being used as a digital transport, isn't the hardware difference removed from the equation? 2) The 5.1 SACD of The Downward Spiral is light years different than the CD, the two aren't even...

HTF HD DVD REVIEW: License to Wed

Give it a whirl yourself - the PQ has been reviewed very highly on most sites, scoring 4.5 in three other instances, Home Theater Spot, High Def Forum and DVD Talk I believe.

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Rescue Me - The Complete Third Season

"Unfortunately, at this time I’m only able to access to Dolby Digital soundtrack because it’s an undisputable fact that uncompressed lossy codecs are not transparent and I’ve experienced it first hand in my system when I first started reviewing Sony Blu-ray discs last year on a different BD...

50% off select Blu-ray titles on Amazon :)

That's odd because $20 is SD DVD prices, unless you're looking for fullscreen versions of B movies. As for Sony, the $14.99 for The Fifth Element is a steal as word on AVS and other places is that Sony will be offering a swap in the next month or two when the BD50 cleaned up version of The...

50% off select Blu-ray titles on Amazon :)

Yes it looks very lopsided on both www.thedvdwars.com and www.hdgamedb.com right now in favour of Blu-ray. 54 titles in the top 1,000 and 12 in the top 100 is pretty impressive. See Fox, we'll buy your titles when they're priced right. I have ordered 5 so far today, may pick up another...
