*** Official 2009 Warner Chat and Discussion Thread

I'm sad to hear that Barry Lyndon isn't in the works for blu-ray. IMO it's Kubrick's most visually beautiful film, yet the DVD isn't even anamorphic!!

John Ford at Fox: 21 disc set in December!!! (2007)

Wee Willie Winkie was originally tinted like a silent film for it's theatrical release. It isn't colorized, but it will at last be presented as it was ment to be seen.

John Ford at Fox: 21 disc set in December!!! (2007)

I can't WAIT! I'm so glad to see that Wee Willie Winkie will be presented tinted as it was theatrically shown. What a dream come true. I can't wait to see the restoration of Pilgrimage as well. December 4th I'll be broke.

John Ford at Fox: 21 disc set in December!!! (2007)

This is a dream come true. This set is a bargain at $300 considering I never thought many of these films would see the light of an official release. For years the majority of Ford's work was unavailable, and now we are living in the salad days of Film accessibility. Imagine what this would have...

    Criterion's Eclipse line

I doubt Criterion will be paying the big bucks leasing any films from the majors for Eclipse.

    Criterion's Eclipse line

Elio Petri's films are sadly MIA. I Giorni contati is a masterpiece, that has never been properly released in the US outside of arthouse retrospectives, it is sometimes translated as Numbered Days. This is exactly the type of film that will benefit from Eclipse. Investigation of a Citizen Above...

Warners to release 200 new classic titles in 2007

Considering there are only 3 titles in the current Forbidden Hollywood Collection, I would like to see Warners release at least two collections a year. Besides all of the Pre-code featuring "Complicated Women" there are many pre-code films in the Turner archives that addressed social issues such...

    How many Bette Davis boxes?

I just returned my set, because of a defect in my Jezebel disc. It kept freezing at the 20 min mark. I hope this didn't effect all of the discs. I guess I'll see when the replacement arrives.

Will Rogers Collection Vol.1 in July

John, I knew you would have this posted by the time I got here! LOL! I'm looking forward to this release. I've only seen Steamboat, and it will be great to see it restored. I haven't seen the others. Great extras.

John Wayne-John Ford Collection & John Ford Collection: 06-06-06

Actually, considering King Kong came in a tin package, I bet The Searchers is coming in a gold embossed imitation leather case. That would explain that unusual image.

John Wayne-John Ford Collection & John Ford Collection: 06-06-06

Though it is only thumbnail size image, the cover for the Searchers UCE, visible on the side of the box looks a little cheesy. Obviously I can't see it too clearly, but it looks more like a cover you would find on a PD collection of Wayne's films. Compared to Warner's usual Poster art style...

Child of Glass (Disney movie) on DVD??

I loved this film so much as a child. I still think about it quite a bit. This film needs to be resurrected. It used to play on the Disney channel quite a bit in the 80s.

Brokeback Mountain 4/4 (see post #94)

This would be a great time for Criterion's relationship with Universal to blossom again. With Ang Lee participation on the recent Criterion release of The Virgin Spring (which happens to list Brokeback Mountain in Lee's credit), it would be interesting to see what Criterion would do with this...
