Yes there will be, especially because the Toshiba is not a good projector even in that price range. At 1k you should be looking at the infocus X1, benq 6100, and the sanyo z1. The 5700 is a nice projector but at that price i'd go for an optoma h56 or nec ht1000
Go to www.projectorcentral.com and read up on them. They also have calculators to show exactly what size image you can throw at a particular distance for each projector. For example here is the x1 http://www.projectorcentral.com/proj...m?part_id=1885 here is the z1...
1/4 HD products will look very good with HDTV (z1 and 300u) For 2k you can also get 720p projectors such as the sanyop z2 and panny 500u. Sony also makes the HS 10 and 20 for a bit more. You will not be able to get 1080i yet, but 720p is very nice.
You might also look into the plv-z2 from sanyo. It has optical screen movement up and down 1280 by 720 res., dvi, and better contrast http://www.projectorcentral.com/Sanyo-PLV-Z2.htm
Here's the Onkyo HT-S760 refurbished for $299 + $15 shipping. For $300 you could put some money elsewhere, such as DVDs, a rack, cables, beer, etc. Wow thats a great deal. 1 year warranty too.
h56 is probably more in your price range. I would also look at the upcomming sanyo z2 and panasonic 500u. Both are lcd but very nice. try projectorcentral dot com for information
If you are going to use it exclusively for dvds there is no reason to have the extra resolution of the 300u. The 200u can resolve the entire dvd picture. The only big advantage of the 300u then is if you are going to buy a Bravo D1 dvd player and use DVI to transfer the signal.
