Just a small thing from glancing through this thread, but the Saruman/Aruman thing was NOT a mistake. It was a deliberate choice by Bakshi because he was worried that audiences would get confused by the similarity (at least in his thinking) between the names Saruman and Sauron.
But good Christ...
Nicely said, Jacinto, and I agree. I hope what we see is a young Clark being a hero without really knowing who he is yet, or fully understanding what he wants to be. There's the description of him saving a busload of children when he's a kid, and then there's the fishing scenes in the teaser...
I know about a dozen people who are glued to this show who have never read the books who were totally shocked by last night's conclusion. That said, they all loved it, and said it was the best episode to date. Doesn't seem to be turning anyone off. What they're saying is now they can't wait for...
I loved how Walter became much more forceful and almost threatening when his "complete" brain was working while they pumped him for info about the door. His voice and entire demeanor were different. A nice look at the Walter who originated a lot of this science back in the day before he went...
This movie kicked all kinds of ass. The clever integration of "the list" into the movie was worth the price of admission alone. And the cameo is GENIUS.
Just watched this. I enjoyed it for what it was. I'm not sure why the warnings were so cryptic other than it created a mystery for Cage's character to solve. I also thought it was stupid that he was living in a falling down house. That seemed hit-me-over-the-head symbolism for the decaying state...
Romulans are not gone at all. Romulus is destroyed in the future of the new timeline (assuming the event still occurs). Romulus and Romulans are alive and well in the new Kirk-era timeline. However, that doesn't mean they should use Romulans as the villains again. I don't think they should go...
We will agree to disagree here. I think Del Toro is capable of astounding depths of beauty both in composition and character. Besides, look at Jackson's work prior to the LOTR. BRAIN DEAD? MEET THE FEEBLES? Fun, schlocky, grade-Z gross-out horror flicks. And he produced some truly sublime beauty...
And how do you know this isn't what they will be focusing on? Oh, that's right. You don't. Because the script(s) aren't completed yet.
Whether you like it or not, the LORD OF THE RINGS movies are out there, and were wildly successful, both commercially and artistically. I agree with you that...
The actress who plays Juliette has signed up for another series this fall, so maybe that's the best indication that she is truly dead and gone (which is my take on it anyway).
I absolutely agree with this. Hurley is definitely the show's gateway to the mystery of the numbers, and any "resolution" of that mystery should come through him. Excellent point.
