I'm a big fan of Evangelion. I enjoy that it is confusing and obtuse in many ways, but on the surface it's pretty straightforward action. And I'm a sucker for End of the World and post-apocolypse stuff. I think it ranks in my top 10 which is still something like this (Escaflowne wasn't quite...
One of my favorite movies...even though it's really depressing. Sometimes it can make you feel like "Hey, what am I complaining about? My life rocks compared to these poor little kids" - thus oddly cheering you up a little bit even though it leaves you depressed.
Too bad a lot of folks turn...
Oh, now that I re-read, you're right. He says it's better but then later clarifies that he hasn't seen Fruits Basket. Personally I like Azumanga better though, as I find the characters more amusing, but oh well :D BTW not watching Fruits Basket is an anime-watcher sin. I thought JohnAD...
If it involves the word "Bose" you should turn it down. Unless you like pan & scanned sound. :p Do a quick search on Bose on the forum and you'll find piles of threads recommending some alternative small speakers.
Looks like I lost my board subscriptions in the changeover to the new bb software. I don't chime in much these days but I do read the messages. No new anime here for quite some time. Nothing interesting me. But the wife keeps up on some shows - I've seen the first disc or so of of...
Looks like I lost my HTF subscriptions. Just chiming in because this thread helps me remember to buy the scripts! :D I still need to go back and buy a few of the older ones. The $10 off coupon is useful. I think I'll use it to catch up on a few of the ones I didn't get on release week.
Woot, Hi-Def fansubbed anime??!?! I'm interested. I'd like to see some anime without deinterlacing or combing artifacts. :D Sounds like I need to get the HTPC up and running.
The Zenith 318 has a very easy region-free mod. You have to download a small file, burn it to a CD, and then put it in the player. Then you set the region to 0 with the remote.
IIRC JMS tried to shoot the show protected for widescreen format, but his directors didn't always do it (especially season 1). So there's some less-than-perfect framing here and there.
Part of the reason is the limited amount of DVI inputs. Some folks have their HDTV receivers or other devices running over DVI. HDCP-DVI switchboxes are kinda expensive, especially with an IR receiver, and then you have to program macros to do the switching. So they run HDTV via DVI and the...
Argh A thread about the best show ever aired on television has been derailed into a discussion about ebay. I started picking these up on release starting with season 3, using Triple pts weekend pre-orders on my Replay card at Suncoast. Effectively they cost me about $65 a piece. And worth...
Agreed. I vastly preferred Banner 2 over Banner 1. Banner 1 was too many space battles. Banner 2 was back to the more character-driven plotlines and less stuff-getting-blown-up spectacles.
