Where is everyone? I haven't logged in for a while.
Anyone know how to get ahold of Jay Humphrey? I'm told he has my MAME DVDs and possibly my router bit.
Anyways, if y'all moved and didn't tell me, someone send me the secret location :)

Nils, My trigger finger hovered precariously over the mouse button for a few minutes when I saw that pre/pro. But I decided the only reason to upgrade would be for HDMI or DVI switching, and if I were to go that route I might instead splurge for the new Denon 3806 or perhaps the Outlaw 990...
Jeff, Couldn't you just use the alternate mapping on the KeyWiz to create a "rotated" joystick? Just rotate each keymap 45 degrees. So that UP now equals the key stroke for UP-RIGHT and RIGHT now equals RIGHT-DOWN, etc. That would allow you to play qbert if you couldn't rotate your panel. Of...
Sorry guys.... been very busy and haven't even had time to check in here. I do have the 3" translucent blue trackball from dreamarcades. It is awesome. I don't think I'd want one any smaller as it seems to have the perfect authentic weighting and feel. Any smaller and its more like one of...
Hank, NEC has a business projector that has a really short throw and can do off axis. The technology has been out for a while, but I have not yet seen a HT specific one. Doesn't interest me. I prefer having my projector on the back wall as opposed to 3' in front of the screen. But I'll bet...
Jay, CAD drawing? HA! You give me way too much credit. I just pulled a Meininger and threw planning out the window and figured it out along the way. Fortunately I only had 1 minor "do-over" when I realized that a 1-1/8th hole is a fraction too big for the buttons. The control panel is 24"...
Jay,
Here is the link to that monitor I told you about. $80 for a 21" Trinitron CRT. Not a bad deal at all for you MAMErs.

Also, for cheap Dell PCs, check these sites daily:

You should be able...
Yeah, I used a Sony 19" trinitron CRT monitor. If you use a similar setup, plan on leaving the back open. A 19" CRT is too deep to fit in the depth of the standard Defender cabinet, plus it puts out some heat. You could tilt it downward and make it fit though. Also, I'd recommend getting some...
Jay/Chad - Jeff Meininger has my copies of the MAME DVDs and CDs at the moment, but he's going to dupe them and we can meet early next week for lunch or something so you guys can borrow them. He's building a "minimame" PC with a portable control panel to hook up to his TV/projector. Sounds...
Yeah, this is nuts. People in Austin are acting as if we live on the coast below sea level (like Nawlins) and we're going to be flooded and on our own for 5 days. Calm down people, the worst thing we might see is a few inches of rain and some gusty wind. That happens 10 times a year! Now it...
Nils / Hank, I highly recommend eloping. The wife and I decided to forgo the $25K wedding that all of our friends did and instead threw an awesome New Years Eve/Wedding party and flew off to Jamaica the next day to get married on the beach. So instead of paying $25K for a one day event we...
Chad -- Thats the right bit. Its only needed if you want to install T-molding on the edges. If you want to rout your own edges it wouldn't be necessary. You can borrow mine if you like, I can give it to the wife and you can pick it up at work. Just let me know. Same for the funky hole saw size...
Jay and Chad, If you look around you can find cabinet designs galore. My cabinet is almost an exact copy of the Defender Stargate design. They have CAD drawings for all of the major games online and I have a bunch on CD. It gives you every measurement you need and how to fit them on minimal...
