I found the pre-title sequence in FRWL to be a total washout of grey on the 4K. Whereas the Blu-ray was much darker and more night-like. For the films I've mentioned I turned the brightness down some on my TV and they look fine. On TSWLM even the black bars are grey before adjusting the brightness!
A pal of mine recently acquired some of the 4K Bond downloads so I decided to have a look at them after reading here that some of them are marked improvements over the Blu-rays I have. Anyway, I have noticed that some of the titles look overly bright (TSWLM, TMWTGG, GF, FRWL), while others look...
Oh to replace my aged receiver that can only process the standard old, compressed soundtracks. It doesn't even turn on properly, consistently anymore. Yeah, that ancient. So my ideal setup would be to have a receiver that not only works properly but does everything a modern setup should! That's...
My receiver is so old it doesn't have ANY HDMI inputs, never mind 8. Plus, it is starting to show signs of its impending demise. So it would be quite a thrill to go from a scooter to a Cadillac... for free!
Now that WWZ is top of mind... does anyone have a cover that utilzes the above art (or the colour/blue sky version of same)? The "big brad" version on the regular 2D bluray is rather unappealing!
Cheers!
I'm a big fan of Dr. Phibes and I've always liked Pit & the Pendulum as well but I'm not familiar with the other films... though I think I saw Usher a LONG time ago.
Any comments on how those other films rate would help me decide on whether I should take the plunge when this box comes out...
Well, I just got a new job so I decided to treat myself to this set... picked it up for $33.49 which isn't too bad. I only had the previous Road Warrior Blu so an uptick in sound there plus the two films that are new to my collection made the purchase worthwhile. And hey, the tin IS kinda nifty...
Finally got to TSWLM the other night after chugging through the previous movies in chronological order. I have to say that this is absolutely the worst looking film in the series so far. And I was especially disappointed as this is my favourite Bond of them all! The EE/sharpening is just...
Thanks for the info Cameron. I'm getting onto them now. I suggest anyone else having problems do the same and maybe they'll do something about these playback issues. Dave update: I tried the online form and got a delivery failure. Maybe the box was full; I'll try again later. The other two...
I tried to contact MGM regarding the problems a few of us have been having with Moonraker and YOLT -- the pausing / dropouts previously mentioned. I've had no luck either; just the same bounced back emails. Same deal with FOX as well. Pretty poor customer relations / service I'd say. We all...
I noticed the same thing as well on YOLT and Moonraker. On YOLT it seems to be a layer change as my player displays "search" briefly as it normally does for a layer switch. It is just an odd place to put the change; earlier in the movie than expected as well. As for Moonraker, the player reads...
